Among my stash of flathead parts is a cardboard box I labeled “Holley Hell” containing 4 distressed 94 carbs. These are essentially carbs I rebuilt over years of failed attempts to produce viable results for my 8BA. I finally just bought a new 94 and achieved excellent confidence. That and a pressure gauge such as you recommend. One important thing I overlooked was that of an almost invisible difference between so-called primary and secondary versions of the 94. The two are jetted for applications for the dual carburetor setup. Now I know, but took a while to discover. Thank you.
Thank you! I’m trying to get to know a couple of these little guys myself. It drives me crazy how simple they seem, and yet they’ve been keeping me on my toes to say the least.
I’m thinking I’m running into all those issues myself, having acquired my first Flathead. Carb looks new, hard to start, idles for awhile until car warms up-then dies. Try to rev it up and it just chokes it further…

Nice, simple and thorough. Thank you. Taking on this challenge soon and this was very helpful.
So much good information. I will be adjusting the float level to 1- 1/4" and installing a fuel pressure gauge Thanks. 👍
What jets an power valve did the 50 ford sedan bone stock top 2 bottom come with?
I got an original 8 BA carb at a garage sale and I don’t know how much it’s worth. Decent condition and could be cleaned up real well. Any ideas?
50 bucks tops
