    I live in Germany, and I know that if I ask a few questions to Americans such as, "Where are you from"? "What do you like"? "Where have you been"? there then follows a massive monolog of "I, me, my, we, our" and they never ask you what you think. They can go on for more than an hour and then they think they have had a great conversation with you, but know nothing about you.

    Oof hard yes to learning a few words. I was in Italy as an Australian tourist and I learned a few important phrases cos I was gonna be in Italy for about 10 days. Was in Vatican City in July in the sun buying a drink from a drinks truck, and got asked by an American tourist how much my drink was cos he saw I was Asian and presumed I wasn't a local. Turned to the lady and asked in Italian, then turned back to him with the answer. He was so outraged at how expensive it was lol! Buddy, you're in a tourist area at the height of tourist season. If you don't like it, there's free, ice cold spring water fountains everywhere so drink that. That's what we did, especially in Rome. I think this was one of the few times I actually paid for a drink cos yay fresh clean cold water.
    Also, never go to Rome in July. Too fucking hot.

    I remembered reading that Americans traveling to Europe has been declining for the last 2 decades and instead, are opting for travel to Asia, Mexico, and the Caribbean. I'm wondering now if it's because Americans feel less judged by arrogant Europeans and the money goes much further in those areas?

    • @rafalch5530
      @rafalch5530 Před 4 lety +10

      Im pretty sure its actually because the typical American vacation for a long time would be to Europe, and now want to experience some cultures that weren't so popular back then. Also, Mexico and The Carribean are close to the US, with Asian flights being way more cheaper than the ones to Europe; its all about cheap travel.

    I live in Switzerland and travel around Europe often, and what I find most annoying is that a lot of US-Americans just refuse to prepare for their trip. They don't research the customs of their destination, they don't even learn one word in the local language and still they assume they know all they need to. They then complain about stuff that is very common-place here, and of course they have the expectation that everyone speaks English and is ready to help them. That being said, I agree that tourists from the US are generally very friendly and fun!

      I recently saw a video made by an American couple, flew in to Heathrow. I followed their journey to their hotel. They settled in to the hotel couldn’t understand the thermostat as the temperatures for the A/C was in celsius. They were also confused by the power sockets, and thought because the hotel chain they were staying in was American, owned it would have American electrical sockets! After two days of being in that hotel, they couldn’t work out that plug sockets were meant for British plugs. It amazing that they had travelled to another country without doing basic research, as to how to read the temperature, or what type of electrical plugs you might encounter, and where you might be able to get an adapter, and staying with electric devices. What voltages the country that you are visiting uses, so if necessary you might have to get a voltage converter for your electrical devices.

    1. Starbucks has better coffee than almost all European "cafes". Tried them, they're gross.
    2. It's fashionable for Europeans to mock the USA, when in fact EVERYTHING they do is copy/pasting the worst and most superficial of American culture. They complain about the US while wearing Metallica tshirts and skateboarding (which they think they invented by the way). And, they are obsessed with Friends (yup, the silly 1990s sitcom! They even wear Friends tshirts!!!).
    3. They are honsetly soooo much louder than Americans.
    4. They all want an American accent
    5. They are honestly more racist. If you don't look like Brad Pitt, they'll almost always ask you "so where are you really from?"... wow... and the same people being racist kep mentioning how racist America is in front of me... like, come on, it's honestly worse in Europe.
