They found her back in 2009 with cleo's favorite bust and coins , they where too stupid to know it was her- looking at her husband. Obviously she gave most of the wealth away when then the Romans were going to take over and had to beg for Anthony to be in the tomb with her. She settled on a corner in the room - forever looking at her love. Now leave them be!! you lot have your dna samples and 3d images. There was an amulet that was found that was cleo's favorite too and a mask of Anthony - he didn't want that in the tomb but she put it in there anyway . I get it , you are all looking for - a gold filled room - she was amazing not greedy.
First found in 1996- 1998
Updated from 2021: Kathleen Martinez found a mummy with a gold tongue in one of the tombs. The other 15 burials also date back around 2,000 years and contain remarkable treasure. In one, a female mummy is wearing a death mask that covers much of her body and depicts her with a headdress while smiling. Excavation of the site and analysis of the remains is still ongoing.
The Pharos were off spring & fallen angels along with Lucifer that ruled and build with heavenly knowledge

Idk but I think Cleo did not committed suicide. She's a smart woman and dying for a man is the last thing she would do. She was highly capable, she was a queen, she was a mother, she was a billonaire in her time. Which means she was very influential and she had lots of loyal slaves and followers. People in her time are very monotonuous. They serve their masters until their last breaths. It would have been easy for Cleo to fake her death she had thousands of slaves she might have sacrificed one that resembled her, have someone spread about it, bribed officials to confirm her death (which prolly they took the secret to their grave), and she escaped disguised as a commoner off to somewhere else. A smart queen like her would have easily survived living in neighboring lands as she spoke lots of languages. She prolly brought enough of her jewels for sustainance, and brought closest of her slaves and guards and they lived quite normal lives. OR Octavian may have ordered to murder her but failed to do so as she fled prior. And to console his ego, he had to write history saying she killed herself. It's a form of insult to convey a powerful queen taking her own life for a man with a lower status than her. Which explains why they haven't found her tomb. But idk tho 'cause I ain't historian. Just my two cents. 😂

The7thTaciturnWriter ancient Egyptians believed that the proper preservation and burial (with riches and fancy tombs) of their pharaohs allowed the pharaohs to live forever and advocate for the people to the gods in the afterlife. They believed that the entire fate of the country depended on the proper mummification, burial, and honouring of the pharaoh.
It’s very possible and even likely that Cleopatra would have sacrificed her life so that her body would definitely be buried properly and allow her to watch over and help the Egyptian people in the afterlife. If the romans had killed her and not mummified her, or worse, mutilated her, according to her beliefs, she would have been destroying Egypt and betraying her subjects. The crops wouldn’t grow, there would be pestilence, etc.

She was off'd by Octavian's henchies. And the kid she had by Julius Caesar as well. Cleopatra's death would have been passed off as suicide, she was surrounded by Octavians men - who could say different? Witnesses? Cleopatra had a brilliant knack for multiple languages, as did her little sister (the one she had murdered). Too bad Cleopatra understood jacksquat about military strategy. Siding with Marc Antony was not a smart choice in the end.
I'm a historian and I really liked your two cents very smart and interesting. I wish people were allowed to make such assumptions in history and then deduce because we barely know 1% of the details in ancient history through archeological evidence. I love formulating stories.

I did too, but it's a very expensive and dangerous career and extremely difficult to get access to the sites and countries you want. I guess that's why most people don't do it. If you aren't already rich it's almost impossible to be a credible and respected archaeologist.

For those who believe in past lives (as I do), perhaps this brave woman is the reincarnation of the great Queen herself and is seeking to connect with and redeem her own past. Looked at from that perspective, this adventure becomes worthy of a legend. Keep in mind that Omm Sety of England spent her life in Egypt excavating the tomb of Seti I for similar reasons.

There should be a follow up from this, especially when Kathleen just found 2 possible tombs. After watching this video, I believe that Kathleen is on the right track in finding Cleopatra's tomb. I hope that she does, because it will give us more insight on the Great Egyptian Queen. Kathleen has done a wonderful job so far in this discovery, for being a Criminal Lawyer, where the Archeologist have failed to find.
SBell1959 but Antony's body was cremated and his ashes given to Cleopatra. Cleopatra died that same night when she went to inter Antony's ashes in the tomb she had built for them. The tomb was not very far from the palace.

i guess you do not know how Egypt politics goes in Egypt hey ? if you find something thathas historical that can probaly lead to discovery of artifacts about about egypts disnaty of the past they will give you the right to dig but as you find more and more artifacts related to those dinasty they will keep an eyes on your progress and when you get closse to a major break thru thats when they cut you off from it and their own archeologist take over and sends you back to your country so they can keep their treasures of the past in their country ' To many archeologist from foreign countries rubbed them of their artifacts in the past and they diceded to take control of their archeologic sites and they are right to do so cause we in return wouldn't allow strangers to dig in our country and leave with artifact from here either
There is soooo much to dig here in Egypt, that archeologists just cannot keep the pace of grave robbers who still make incredible discoveries which, unfortunately, end up in private and secret collections. In the meantime though, they destroy precious historical evidence.

I saw Dr Hawass so thoroughly disrespect this archaeologist on TV that it was shameful. It was also typical of how he treated other professionals. He was finally caught selling Egyptian artifacts to collectors and fired from his position as Director of Antiquities.

Update of March 2024: With additional research, and by reaching out to sub-aquatic archaeologist Robert Ballard (the diver who located the Titanic) for assistance, Kathleen Martinez began her exploration of the submerged Alexandria with approval from the government who even offered her resources and equipment to aid in finding the tomb of Cleopatra.
She's stubborn, persistent and fearless! Damn, going down that deep shaft all by herself with a GoPro. What an incredible woman.

I was there a couple of years ago and actually went down a couple of other easily stepped shafts, not shown in the video, with a very kind Bedouin guide. I saw human remains (I have pictures). I touched nothing. Though slightly dramatized, the video is true and the guide told me about the excavations by a "Spanish" woman. Strangely, the video does not show some very evident Greek inscriptions on some of the walls in the temple. The large shaft is very impressive and deep.
The location is easy to reach, but you need to have good connections with the Bedouins in order to enter the complex. They are very kind and cannot be bribed, but are easy to be offended if you don't know how to deal with them.

when get older go to Egypt and experience the real temples. It feels like those statues scriptures and paintings are talking to you. I spent 8 days there and I still want to go back.
Egyptian builders are amazing. To remove so much rock and earth centuries ago.. it still looks like it was made yesterday. The technology and detail is outstanding.. How did they do it.? Its Extraordinary. I think this lady is destined to find her. She has probably manifested this moment since she began many years ago. I sincerely hope her latest quest is the greatest of them all.. I wonder if Alexander the great's final resting place is near there aswell.. it would make perfect sense to be amongst the Valley of the Kings..

Update from 2023,she didn't found it yet but she found a tunnel that is super hidden and has alot of water,they scan it and it has a tomb but unfortunately her Contract expire so they will explore it next year

Imagine this girl studying about cleopatra's life is cleopatra reincarnate.
It's a tragedy that this place was so neglected by the 'professional' archaeologists for so long. How much have these 'professionals' missed? The problem is we continue to depend on these academic people to give us the official version of history which is to be taken as gospel truth.

What is the greatest discoveries? Since now it is nice finds...no real fuzz in comparison to many other archeological sights around the world.
I think even, that cleopatra is just big because of our imagination, because most facts of her even suggest her being more capable being scientific than of any political significance. Character even suggests to me, that she was to much a narcissistic coward to really commit suicide. She probably lived along somewhere hidden.
I just think she is an amazing lady and I hope and pray that she will find Cleopatra's tomb. It would be fantastic and proof that perseverance pays off.

National Geographic channel has been showing the documentaries about the Lost Treasures of Egypt, recently. I saw the documentary about searching for Cleopatra's lost tomb yesterday, and it ended with Kathleen Martinez finding a shaft sunk deep into the ground near the temple of Isis, but then her time was up, and she had to leave Egypt! The date on the documentary was 2019. Does that mean that the documentary was filmed in 2018? I saw this video's title, and jumped on it! Thanks for sharing this documentary on CZcams! The look on this beautiful woman's face when she came up from the shaft with the skull, marble and pottery was absolutely priceless. =) "..the most important Ptolemaic temple site in Northern Egypt." Discovered by a mostly amateur, "self-trained" archaeologist/Egyptologist AFTER full fledged, Full-on, 100% "experts" have gone through the site and deemed it mostly worthless. What else have these "experts" missed in their careers. I am loving Ms. Martinez more and more as each minute goes by. Thankfully she is young. I look forward to hearing of her discoveries in the future!

This video was from 2015. Kathleen continued to post to her social media account throughout the 2016/17 season. No major discoveries were posted. Her social media account was quite throughout 2018. From this we can probably deduce that she did not find what she was looking for or has encountered problems with continuing her work.

How her digging permit was expired just when she uncovered that passage is just like... wow!! Makes me more curious.. And then came the pandemic..

Wow this is amazing, it would be great if another follow up documentary could be done to see where she is now. Carry on Kathleen your do an amazing job and your doing an amazing job for women around the world. The world especially schools should be shown these things because they are so important to our history and we don’t get to see or hear much of what is found in Egypt and it is really important for us to know and pass on to the next generations.
See all the fancy training and all you really need is passion, determination, patients and logic.
Brilliant woman. I hope so much that she is right and she finds Cleo. Goodness knows she deserves to! I remember seeing an early program on tv about her dig when she first began and she was clearly being treated as a silly amateur, laughed at - ha! no-one is laughing now tht she has proved herself and her sixth sense about what she is searching for. It reminds me of Schliemann, who found Troy despite the mockery that was levelled at his conviction that he could do so. Go for it, Kathleen.
I think she did a Ronny Biggs , that’s why her tomb can’t be found . She was aware that her remains would have been exhumed and dragged to Rome , to show the mob , what happens when the power at the time of Rome was challenged.

Extremely fascinating documentary...this channel should have more subscribers, I can't believe so many people are missing this. I think Kathleen is a descendant of Cleopatra for sure or why would she had this hunch about her.
Cleopatra is mainly of Macedonia stock , I wonder if the other chamber is where her brother is buried or her child ? ?
What I keep returning to in my mind is how difficult it must have been for Kathleen Martinez to establish professional credibility in a largely male dominated Egyptian culture. None the less, her persistence and patience is inspiring and of critical importance in uncovering the truth of our past.... much of it recorded by (and in support of) the victors and winners of a violent and tumultuous past.

Cleopatra's Tomb was her palace, on a man-made island just off the city around the river mouth delta. That part of the city sunk under the water over time.
i believe her tomb was probably already found and looted and destroyed centuries ago
As of Jan 2023, Kathleen has discovered two tunnels at the site which lead to a big 10m chamber which she believes could be the place of the tomb burial. Kathleen is positive.

I don't see how it is significant that she is beautful or a woman and I don't see why you would need to add that she has a brain as well, granted that she is actually a highly educated person.

Cleopatra, by all accounts deemed reliable, was not a beautiful woman at all. Big hooknose, high forehead, short, a bit tubby past her teens.
She just had good skin by bathing in milk with honey every day and was promiscuous as all hell, she was not falconpunched by her husband for nothing. She was simply lauded for her beauty because she was a ruthless ruler. Would you go in front of Saddam and call him an uggo or be nice?
