They were at the top of their game here,,, it took years of hard work, blood, guts, and sacrifice that got them there,, thats the part most people understand.
Skynyrd rehearsed every single day in a tiny ass barn in the south for YEARS. The members kept telling Ronnie let’s play live he said no we aren’t good enough…and that’s when they had simple man in their bag. God damn legends
Joey you legend. Skynyrd changed my life 3yrs ago. This Oakland performance is out of this world, I watch in pure amazement everytime. Watching it this evening is what took me to your video. You get it man ✌
Skynyrd has been my favorite since I was ten I’m 27 now appreciate ur respect a lot people only know the over played songs on the radio they have a ton of great songs
Skynrd has dozens of songs the fans know...an they did that on basically 4 albums before the plane crash...who knows how many more hits they coulda had ?
Mr. Thank you for being a straight fuckin shooter,I believe your comments is as good that's ever been spoken about the Greatest American rock n roll band.Yes they were southern born and southern bred but were American proud first,God bless ya
Go down the rabbit hole of how Hendrix got turned on to Skynyrd via Duane Allman's personal tapes of LS opening for the Allmans before any of them were famous. Confederate flags, hillbillys, black panthers, none of that bullshit mattered.
Okay so they way I imagine a biopic of Joey Diaz opening is him on the stage talking about growing up and the scene cuts to the 70’s New York/Jersey with Eric claptons cocaine in the background with a young Joey walking down the street. Music slowly fades as camera approaches Joey and he begins talking over the scene introducing you to the setting and himself.
I've lived in Jacksonville for 30 years and I can tell you Skynyrd is like a religion here. They weren't racist at all,the rebel flag was a PR thing to show that they were something completely different from every other rock band then.
I was listening to free bird, and I was like “ this song is pretty slow for joey” and once it hit the 3:50 mark I was like “ holy shit, this song picks up!” for the next 4 minute guitar solo
Fun fact : Lynyrd Skynyrd was a highschool principal if i remember correctly who first imposed the "no long hair" type of look , and obviously thats why they all have long hair, fuck the system, live the freedom
Love Skynryd ( the original, not the Johnny Van Zandt lounge band). Joey Diaz is a hack. Do a shot every time he says fuck. You’ll die of alcohol poisoning in 60 seconds or less.
I don't think anybody can argue against the Allman bros being amazing musicians. But Ronnie is a southern poet and it's Skynyrds encapsulation of the state of southern culture combined with the musicianship that sets them apart. And yes, Diaz mentions the Allmans as being an influence in another interview.
@dimebag Darrell I consider That Smell the greatest rock song of all time. My opinion. And I found about that song because of Uncle Joey, he was talking about it on a podcast with Dean Delray and played a bit and its become my favourite song and I started digging into Skynyrd more and more. You can say the Allman Brothers were better musicians and you're probably right but the dgaf southern rock and roll style, blues and the piano and the incredible lyrics from Van Zant, I think they're simply perfection. Watch the 1976 england tour concert when they opened for the stones and when they played free bird they just put every other band to shame. In that concert only the Rolling Stones was allowed to use the "Tongue" part of the stage but when the free bird solo came Van Zant didnt gave a fuck and told, Collins, Gaines and Rossington to go over the tongue part and played the solo there. The audience went nuts for the southern boys. I can guarantee you that Skynyrd put the goddamn Rolling Stones to shame that day.
@dimebag Darrell He has shown me a lot of great songs. Skynyrd is really the shit. Yeah I've seen the oakland concert and when the solo for freebird came they audience lost their minds and its incredible whole fucking stadium full. watch Skynyrd at Knebworth, thats the concert I'm referring to, its also amazing.
Man I love Joey Diaz but Skynard is so goddamn overrated. I personally have never been a big fan and I speak as someone who did them live when I was 14. I mean as musicians their ok but they ain't no Grateful Dead that's fersure. Sweet Home Alabama as become a KFC anthem so in you're face Skynard, you were never on Neil Youngs level. lmao
Who are you Justine is it ...grateful dead you cheese head when you get your head out your ass and get some music sense we the people might give you a consideration until then skeet skeet FreeBird all over your face lookout don't give me back my bullets
You did SKYNYRD live when you were 14, what on your knees, The Greatful Dead tuned their instruments for half their show, and they weren't on Neil Youngs level they were way above it, and what does Sweet Home Alabama have to do with Kentucky Freid Chicken Eisenstein
Joeys taste in music is tremendous. Like how he appreciates the bands we gave America as well
he's 100 % right
They were at the top of their game here,,, it took years of hard work, blood, guts, and sacrifice that got them there,, thats the part most people understand.
Allman Brothers and Skynyrd
@Tom Bystander yesssir!

They played live three days a week in the early years wym? They would've played live every day but Ronnie had to rest his vocals after every show
I think they referred to it as Hell House.
@@mattrobinson9694yea because they would play no matter what even if it was 100° in there

Not my type of guitar/band based music, but Joey is 100% right, And Freebird truly is a great song!. The Skynyrd story is sad though
Not your type? Hope you’ve acquired some taste in the last 2 years
One of the greatest permanent ever.....everything is brilliant.

Couldn’t have said it any better

Knebworth was the best performance by skynyrd
Fun fact : Lynyrd Skynyrd was a highschool principal if i remember correctly who first imposed the "no long hair" type of look , and obviously thats why they all have long hair, fuck the system, live the freedom
It was Leonard Skinnard, and he was their high school gym teacher
The band was named after Leonard Skinner, the gym teacher.
Thank you Captain Obvious.
