    Where's the rebar on the ground. Don't you need it through the base. ?

      Was thinking the same thing? Guessing fiber in the concrete. I'm sure there is a logical explanation. I buried my downspouts under my concrete so not have tons of water running on to the surface. That large of a shop will produce a lot of water of the roof. He did say they were going to take it underground on that corner spout.

    I was in there, bricklayers apprenticeship. They sent me to school for six weeks to learn how to lay block. I got lucky and picked up an extra two weeks to learn how to do concrete. They taught us how to stamp and the colored concrete. It was an extra two weeks And bricklayers are paying for it so I thought hell yeah signed me up! The more you learn the more you can earn. I can’t wait to see the finishing touches on this.

    I can’t believe they did not use wire or rebar during that pour!..

    must be different in NC - always thought big slabs needed compacted gravel base and rebar or mesh...love seeing your success, it is earned and well deserved.

      The lack of reinforcement is of concern but if it lasts then that’s all that matters.
      I have not helped with a concrete pour for 30 years. It might have all changed since then.

    Hi Josh, wow I can’t believe you’re putting down so much concrete without any Rio in there. Maybe it’s just an American thing is here in Australia wouldn’t last too long doing that they tried to here in Australia to use microfibre’s in the concrete But it never worked Cliff from Logan city, Queensland Australia from the big island

    Hmmm, I'm surprised at the lack of Rebar in that pad (other then those small chunks near the pillars) As well as not having bolts or supports pre placed in the pillars for the uprights.

    Would have suggested a trench drain in the apron in front of your "garage" doors, Josh, especially since you aren't putting a roof/dormer covering the doors. Great job on electing to put in the "footer" along the edge of the apron. That will really help to prevent cracking along the edge of it! Be sure to really compact the road base up against the apron edge. When you plumb in your downspout drains, I would HIGHLY recommend using glued together schedule 40 pvc pipe for your drains. I once did a job similar to this (80' x 110') shop. The guy didn't see the need for the trench drain (presumably to cut costs), and "scrimped" on the downspout drain pipe electing to go with black corrugated drain pipe instead. Needless to say, five years later, he paid double the cost to re-do everything and do it the right way the second time. ("We do it right because we do it twice"). Just my $0.02, Brother, but its cheaper to do it right the first time! Best of luck! It's looking great so far!

    Look really good but I would think you would put the anchor bolt into the concrete piers for that deck while the concrete was wet, because if you were to drill them in later there would be a risk of them cracking?

    I have been watching Concrete with the Hausas for almost 2 years and they do a great job also. I thought you would have run the downspouts under the concrete with PVC pipes. I always like the stamped concrete but my favorite is wood planking but everyone is different.

  • @dhansonranch
    @dhansonranch Před rokem +1

    Not cheap that's for sure, but it will look good once it is done. However, A friend of mine has it and it is somewhat slippery when it gets wet and dangerously slippery when it gets a skiff of snow on it (not that you get a lot of snow). Just something to watch for. Interesting video.
