Looking at some of these comments, it’s so easy to talk about war but I sincerely doubt any of these people commenting have actually ever SEEN real war or its aftermath. Compromise is essential in this particular matter, violent conflict can be avoided in this circumstance.

Nope, compromise doesn't work with china they're too arrogant and proud! They misinterpret compromise as a sign of concession, that's what happened to our foolish ex-president Rodrigo Duterte who thought befriending China would make them leave our EEZ, instead China interpreted our openness and friendliness to the Chinese as concession of our claims over our own eez, Imagine requiring us to ask for China's permission who's nearest coastline is over 800 miles away from our 200miles EXCLUSIVE economic zone! China is not to be trusted. Never again!

During World War II, many Chinese sought refuge in the Philippines to escape the conflict in their homeland. After the war, the two countries maintained diplomatic relations. However, historical events should not be used to justify unfounded territorial claims. The issue of sovereignty in the South China Sea should be resolved through international law and diplomacy, respecting the rights and interests of all nations involved.

A "mutual defence treaty" is just a door or avenue for two parties to work together how to deal with any aggressíon.
I beleive US and the Philippines obviously is mutually working together to address the threat, through social, economic and enhance military cooperation. And this is the essence of Mutual Defense Treaty at different level.
For many, it has been perceived that inviting US and like minded allies means preparing for war, but is not. Its purpose is to prevent war not to provoke. On the other hand it is as well a defensive stance.
I beleive both use "Cooperation" instead of highlighting MDT in such efforts to settle escalation.

If we are not seeking for military confrontation to get back spratlys island occupied by Chinese and the PH EEZ then US forces should not be here. Let the bullying continues and the fishermen's suffering be exacerbated not to mention our rights to explore and exploit natural resources in our EEZ. What a big BS! The US and the Philippines already signed a permanent military defense treaty back in the 50s which allows immediate interventions of the US in case of the Philippine invasion just like in Japan. According to the treaty, the US is obliged to defend the Philippines in case of invasion but only for defense if the Philippines wasn't invaded there's no need for military intervention from the US cleaning the mess is up to us which is why we need to also strengthen up the treaty was the reason why the Aquino administration didn't take to strengthen the military seriously. Well that's our only advantage the Philippines didn't become like Ukraine because they don't have any defense treaty from the US and the west. And the US has already done enough to support the Philippine military they spend more than $600 million dollars on the Philippine military, health and education facilities for the local to also use it and provide jobs. And add another payment to the Filipino Government on allowing them to place their militaries across the island. China wouldn't even pay us cents in placing their militaries in our EEZ. Be grateful that they already done enough. The US has their own problems and we might not be their most priority but they have the right to put their priorities 1st in their country than others. The only people that can save the Philippines are the Filipino people. If you want to blame something, blame the real problems like why the previous administration didn't take this matter seriously

You must understand that the Sole purpose of USA soldiers stationed in the Philippines is to halt China's advancement in taking more lands in the West Philippine Sea and put them in check. They wouldn't dare lol. The moment they abandon the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, and Australia will take note, reconsider the value of their alliance and arm themselves with Nuclear weapons especially since they are next to Nuclear powers; North Korea, China, and Russia. Even China wouldn't want US to abandon the Philippines because that would result in Nuclear arms race in their own backyard

America wins the wars it wants to win (WW1, WW2). It has lost the peace and hearts and minds (Afghanistan) or it has lacked the will (Vietnam) which requires long term occupation and pacifying of a population or democracy-building. This would not be that. It would be China launching an invasion of Taiwan or South China Sea territories. It would just see the US degrade then destroy the Chinese navy and other assets in the region.

While Marcos may make such assertions, his associates are actively working to advance their agenda. In contrast to his late father, his administration appears less assertive, with limited influence over others. There's widespread skepticism regarding the Unity Team's messaging, as many perceive Marcos and his associates as leveraging their positions for personal gain. Concerns persist that they may exploit the situation to prolong their stay in power, pursue changes to the constitution to serve their interests, and potentially exploit crises to justify Martial Law. Marcos's actions seem to diverge from his electoral promises, prompting scrutiny from the public. As they said, "How can you trust a leader with frozen assets in the United States?"

Weird, because all I see the legislative body even adjusted the Armed Forces and Coast Guard's budget to address the issue, create laws to encourage defense self reliant, support on international military alliance (like RAA w/ Japan), and so on. They're very vocal against China's aggression. So I don't know if you're referring to the VP's silence as "Unity Team's messaging". Its obvious that majority of Filipinos don't trust China also, so don't sit well if you keep on supporting or mum on China's aggression.
