Hey Scott...guess what? I'm your age and NEVER had a cell (never wanted one). Just saw folks staring at them like zombies and freaking out if they forgot it and decided "No...not for me". Therefore, I'm free ALL THE TIME. Honestly, using my work and home land lines, I'm still easily accessible and when I'm out there are NO INTERRUPTIONS. My wife does the same as me. Life is what you make it. Just my take. THANKS.
Lol. My husband constantly turns the flashlight and needs assistance from our kids. Our kids have become computer savvy starting with all the simple Vtech children's toys. They are way sharper in their minds at a young age. Meanwhile, we were playing tag in the street at the same age.
I saw Bugsy Malone the other day for the first time since I was a kid watching it in the theater. Where the Hell did time go? Glad to see you grew up smart and I enjoy watching your channel here.
I have a cell phone, a cordless phone, & a landline. During hurricane Sandy, my cell phone & cordless phone went out & were down for a couple of weeks. Only the lanline worked. The local electric company provides guidance. for what to do if there's an emergency or blackout. They tell you to have a landline to call to report the blackout & not to rely on cellphones because they can go down too. I will never give up my landline as long as i live. They'll never pry it from my hands!
Life was much simpler pre cell phones & computers. Kids do have a mystical technology knowledge. When my nephew was 9 he did not have his own phone, yet he showed me where to find items on my phone that I didn't even know I had. How the heck?😯 I have a landline too. A good backup.
We hung out at Burger King on Friday and Saturday nights. We actually had parents that would call the pay phone in the parking lot. They would ask whoever answered if "Sam Jones" was there. If they were they'd come to the phone.
Landline is also needed for business owners even if home based, if you have anyone working for you. In other words if credit or any other form of contact has to be a landline.
current technology is very intuitive for younger generations as they've seen it from day 1. I had a TI99/4A when I was 5 and various Commodore machines right after and still use those as well as other 8/16 bit stuff without help. While I've keep up with technology all these years, the younger generation will still be better at current stuff than I will be but it would be kind of funny see what happen if you ask them how to load stuff in various 8bit stuff. They'll be asking CHatGPT how to do it which is kind of hilarious on multiple levels.
Imagine being on a dark lonely road in the dead of night and your vehicle breaks down. That's the only reason why I got a cellphone. I will always have a landline. I know exactly where the phones are at all times and their always charged.

My parents still have a rotary corded landline phone in their garage. When someone calls, they can answer it, but you can't use it to make calls.

Your land line is digital. Analog is gone, which is how they screwed us. I would take analog any and everyday if I could!
