Great video!
I finally got a view from the vantage point of my late father during his service in WW2.
He served in the USAAF with a B-24 "Liberator" unit, 15th Air Force, Italy 1944-45 as. Flight Engineer/Top Turret Gunner.
His unit had about 45% casualties and he suffered from pretty severe PTSD until he passed.
I sure do miss him.

Fantastic video!!! Never ever before experienced the cockpit of a B-24 Liberator, or B-17 Flying fortress, or inside a Me-109, or a p-47, p-51 and never heard the impacts of receiving bullet strikes. First an observation then a question:
It seems making an attack from 6 o'clock on a B17/B24 is darned hazardous;
second: Is there any way to reload your guns when you run out of ammo?

In the Vanilla game there is no way to get more ammo. There is a mod that enables you to rearm, repair and refuel, though.
There is a mod? Please tell me more! BTW I am at 4.13.3m version.
As far as i know, B.A.T has the RRR mod in it. The mod was made for 4.09 way back in the day, but it seems the maker of B.A.T put it in his modpack.

P51 mustang escort fighters saved the day with american bomber raids on Germany, they took a toll on Luftwaffe fighters
Does anyone know if the defensive fire of the bombers caused friendly fire casualties? With all that firepower in such close proximity one has to assume it would.

Hi Fishyyy. I really enjoy watching your videos and I have found the love again for IL2 1946! I hope you dont mind and can help me but I have a question. I have recently downloaded via Steam the new updates version of 4.13.3. with SAS mod activator.The game is great but it does not seem to support Tigers excellent flyby mod version 3.0? I do have the original 4.07 version on disc but I have long disconnected my DVD player/drive. Can you advise if I can download the original 4.07 version of the game anywhere and then do a fresh install with the SAS mod activator and then add Tigers flyby's? I think this is the problem?? Many thanks and keep making these brilliant films.

You can set your game to 4.12.2 in the properties of the game in your steam library, the flyby mod should work with that.
a me-163 would be handy there :)

Found your channel awhile back, have you in IL2, flown the BF 109G6 with 3 MK108 30mm cannons, better known as the "kannonvogel" ?
Yes, i flew the 109 with that loadout, it feels like a freight train. I flew pretty much everything that's in the game, from WWI planes to the F/A-18.
Fishyyy Were the MK 108'S as destructive in the game as they were in reality?
Yes, they are. You can down any plane in the game with only a few hits.

Historian Donald Caldwell (the author of the JG26 Unit History) wrote once that the Germans eventually tried to reach a compromise with the ME109, by mounting the MK108 in the nose only; that way if they had to dogfight, they weren't too burdened by the weight of the firepower & even a single MK108 was enough to deal with a bomber-presumably the 13mm guns were used to dogfight the escorts.
How does your plane move so smoothly? My plane is wobbly. If I try to move up, it jiggles and moves back down.

Can anyone recommend a starter joystick for a warbird enthusiast like myself? I love War Thunder's RB but I've always wanted to play IL-2 and I don't think you can use a mouse for that lol

I have no idea. I'm using an old image of a DVD, so I don't have the issue and don't know how to fix it.
how did you make the bomber squadrons like that?
I used "Set target" in the editor. You can create 16 plane formations with a few clicks. The feature is horribly broken, though.
