  • There are many benefits to rotationally grazing goats. Some of these benefits include the following. You don't have to worm your goats regularly. They clear unwanted brushy and weedy areas. And it cuts back on feed costs. I encourage you to try and rotate your animals to check out some of these benefits for yourself. Thanks for watching!

Love your videos Andrew. Maybe I missed it but it would be really helpful to see a detailed video of exactly how you move your fence. Would also like to know more about your breed selection

Put out more goat content! What breeds you have or prefer. Your pastures and the quality of them.

Would you mind posting a video of what kind of shelter you use for your goats while rotating? Thanks!

Hi Andrew great info you have on your channel about grazing goats. Particularly the smart fence was wondering how effective it would be. So you video was very informative.
Just a couple of questions I have, sorry if you have addressed these in videos and I. Have missed them.
1/ how effective is fence for predictor protection like dogs and foxes?
2/ what are the grazing ratios? How many goats per acre for how long?
3/what is your set up for water and shelter. I’m looking for idea on how to do mobile water and shelter for grazing where there is not shade or access water nearby
    Many thanks. Adam

Hi Adam, thanks for watching. I’ve only ever had one time that a predator got a goat. Soon after that I introduced a LGD to the herd. A motivated predator can get through just about any fence. I’ve had them go through the netting before to get to our chickens.
I don’t follow any grazing ratios. I go by available forage and I move them before they take roughly half of the available forage. Just make sure you don’t let them over graze so the pasture has time to recover before the next grazing.
For water I give them a 5 gallon bucket of water in a movable water trough every day. That is enough to keep up with almost 100 goats. If they have to eat hay you will need to give them more water.
      Hope this helps!

Brilliant! Can you provide a link to those insulators you bought that can be added to pigtails?

I noticed your not using your smart fence anymore in this video

It is still the smart fence. I just didn’t have enough posts in the smart fence to use the whole reel. I’ll have to make another video showing how I use it. Thanks for watching!
