  • Join us for a thought-provoking lecture by renowned author and journalist Rod Dreher, presented by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI). In this compelling talk, Dreher examines the growing influence of totalitarian ideologies within American universities and their broader impact on society.
Dreher sheds light on the alarming trend of ideological conformity and censorship on campuses, discussing how certain dogmas have taken hold and stifled intellectual diversity. Drawing on his extensive research and insights from his acclaimed book "The Benedict Option," Dreher explores how these ideological currents threaten fundamental freedoms and undermine traditional values.
Discover why Dreher's analysis is crucial in understanding the challenges facing higher education and our culture at large. Don't miss this enlightening discussion that delves into the pressing issues of totalitarianism and ideological hegemony in contemporary America.

We're also being hurtled into both the jungle and the ghetto as well. With how vloIent the minoriy population is becoming, how they are essentially flying off the handle and deleting people over petty and nonsensical things. On top of the barbarians that our jackass ancestors decided to *gift" us with, now we have even worse ones coming across the border and they are from all over, and 99% of those places and people hate us and they want everything we have and believe they deserve it. We are being replaced, bottom line.

@@churblefurblesYep. He also doesn’t realize the roots of all of this are from the leftist ministry lead civil rights movement that made those ministers feel like martyrs to their ideology. I think he believes this is a completely new and separate movement that arose out of nowhere. My sister in laws father was one of those reverends that was an activist, and he taught his kids to berate everyone around them into submission. My normal Catholic family was totally upturned when she joined and began to berate all of us. Even back then in the early 1950s-1970s those Christian lead activist movements were based on Marxist beliefs, and demanded purity and no freedom of one’s own thought. We even got screamed at and shamed for eating grapes by this family. I literally feel anger when Boomers like this speaker like to pretend like that was the good kind of activism, and it has nothing to do with these new activists who scream in peoples faces, shame them, and demand that people get into line. It’s all the same tactics. It just took a short break during the 1980s.

I don't understand this narcissistic obsession with one's sexuality when it like everything is none of one's personal business. It's not something one should be concerned with. Sex is incidental and private not to be concerned with. One is expected to go about their lives not concerned with their so-called "true-self" as if it's something one should look at or nail down. That's none of one's business. To be concerned with it is selfish. It's something one should be oblivious to and be tangential to tending to things bigger than "self". This kind of self obsession leads to the end of Humanity.

That ‘wrong focus’ comes at the detriment of everything and everyone else.

PG618; I grew up in an Assembly of God church in my home town. I'm 72. When I was starting 8th grade my Mother said the 23 year old Preacher wanted to talk to me about something. He proceeded to tell me I was going to hell cause I wanted to play the guitar. (Think Beatle's in 1965 or so) I was playing piano/organ, taking lessons, and had been playing drums in the band since the 4th grade. Needless to say I told Mr. Cole to F off then I walked home. Didn't go back until the new Preacher , 63 years old, came. Pastor Johnson grew up on the streets of Amsterdam and knew sin from not sin. Something the idiot from Missouri will never know. I still bless my food, pray, (not enough) , help the homeless, have helped 24 youngers in my town get off opiates, and was no doubt the only person to ask God to Bless every B2b, Stealth Bomber, as they were being built. (Tooling QA, Boeing Defense and Space). Preacher Cole went back to Missouri, got caught stealing Church funds, and went to Federal Prison. I receive God's Grace and Guidance everyday just like any other humble sinner. Thank you Jesus for the OLD Pastor.

Do tell ash*le. Anyway, while the religious right is excoriated for trying to change the brain to fit the body, these new dopes want to surgically / hormonally change the body to fit the brain. I see only small changes individually but consider multiplicity of a group of words becoming an encoded gate like a circuit to apply a biochemical choice can be slight and surreptitiously employed. I imagine a marketing system can test for population responsiveness with ease. Layers woven, isolated and combined like any complex system. But we have to understand that Tolkien didn't write a "Phantasy Story". He - a devout Catholic - wrote about the battle of Good and Evil in a very real world: Middle-Earth is OUR earth just in previous times, facing the battle for freedom in the same way we are facing the battle for freedom today.
When reading The Lord of the Rings guided by Rutledge's book, you can truly comprehend the mechanisms of totaliarism. You will recognise that the forces in TLotR are the forces we are facing today. I couldn't help but think of real politicians acting in the way the characters in TLotRs do.

There is the gender binary, but there is also gender, which is not the same thing as sex. Sex and gender form a duality which is difficult to express in the clear and distinct concepts of Descartes, but which nevertheless is real. To deny the duality is to practice gender ideology. What Dreher is spreading here is gender ideology. Gender, whatever it is, is not simply biological sex. Mr. Dreher is a practicing ideologue of gender. Patriarchy and El Machismo are gender ideology, they just to be its most ancient forms. Dreher´s philosophy is positivistic and falls outside of the authentic philosophical tradition of Thomism, of the analogia entis. I am all for small Christian communities within the Unam Sanctam, the Catholic Church. And that is what gets lost here. It is the trendy thing, this notion of Mr. Dreher: Christian Nationalism, Theocracy, Trumpist Theology. Resentment is trendy. Mr. Dreher has some objections to Trump, but they are of a stylistic order. Dreher is the great champion of Mr. Orban´s Hungary. He tells us not to worry about HIS authoritarianism since it is not so bad as the Totalitariansm of those who are not on board with Orban (and his cruel and intransigent vision of immigrants, Moslems, others). It is not so called "dangerous." And what I would like to point out is the contrary, namely that it is dangerous: that racism, that theocratic ideology, that occult cruelty. It is dangerous to the public order, to Democracy and the Rule of Law, to the integrity of the Faith.

      You aren’t paying attention.
The actual prevalence of legitimate gender dysphoria is 0.01% of the population. But that is an aside.
Gender ideology has become weaponized to justify startling totalitarian changes in law in North America and elsewhere in the western world.
Most noteably it has legalized the mutilation of children regardless of parental consent, and it has begun eliminating all vestiges of women’s sex based rights.
In Canada, parents are intentionally denied notification if their child has adopted gender ideology. Gender ideology (the notion that many people are “born in the wrong body” is taught in Canada from kindergarten through high school.
Little girls as young as 8 and boys as young as 10 are put onto sterilizing puberty blockers without parental knowledge or consent. And if a parent becomes aware and wants such medicalization stopped; Canadian law stipulates that a “parent may not, not consent”.
In Canada, men are freely allowed access to the showers and bathrooms of little girls and women.
Men are allowed into women’s rape shelters, prisons, women only hospital wards, scholarships and sports. All the male has to do is make a verbal claim that he “feels like a woman”. His feeling is considered legitimate and something that must be respected as reality. He is also allowed to withdraw the claim after he has left the womens washroom or shower stalls having satisfied his predatory interests; based on the ideologies additional claim that gender can be “fluid” and change from moment to moment.
The Canadian Supreme Court has even rewritten the definition of the word woman to; “anyone who identifies as such.”
So no; it is no longer about the 0.01% of the population of ADULTS who legitimately suffer from gender dysphoria.
It has now affected every single citizen of the countries who have adopted it.
In Canada, if you verbalize a disagreement with gender ideology, you face the loss of your job, your friends and family and even your freedom, as the government can brand your comments as “hate speech”, which has recently become a new category of criminal conduct.
