  • In this video I'll show you how I made the Dior inspired quilting for my latest Almora Bag, pattern available here: www.pinkponyde...
I explain as I go along how and why I do the things I do. Please know that this is slow sewing, no stress as my health doesn't allow that.
    MATERIALS:
The beautiful vinyl is from: borlangesycent...
The pretty edge connectors on the finished bag are from: colorzipper.co...

Beautiful quilting and a great inspiration. I find that the pattern piece, once quilted, shrinks so I quilt the fabric first and then cut it out. Works well for me.

You're absolutely right! I sometimes do that too, especially if the pattern has peices I plan to leave unquilted, or if it has many separate peices I don't wish to shrink differently. However on the case of this bag, the shrinkage I get doesn't really matter much as its just the two pieces, front and back the little shrinkage doesn't bother me, and this way I can leave the foam out of my seams, reducing bulk nicely 😊

Thank you for sharing this with us. Please can also use eva Foam for the interfacing since I have them laying around in the house. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I'm afraid I don't think it would work, the EVA foam I've handled would not hold up to the multiple stitches but would instead rip at the multiple stitch lines I'm thinking? However, I've not worked a lot with it so I'm not 100% sure, maybe you could make a little test sandwich with the foam and try?

Great video! I really appreciate your craftmanship and your willingness to share your knowledge. If you talked about how you interfaced this, I missed it. Did you do anything different from your normal foam?

Thank you so very much! ❤❤🥰 I didn't talk about interfacing no as I didn't plan on quilting this bag at first - so I've interfaced it with a woven fusible over the foam as I describe here in this video: czcams.com/video/9Sis4PLfnBI/video.html

Do you take into account shrinkage when you cut the piece first?

@@PinkPonyDesign Thanks. I guess you could use the finished pieces to cut out the lining pieces and everything would match up perfectly.

It's a slightly shiny vinyl, I bought it here: borlangesycentrum.se/vinylerfuskskinnkork/vinylfuskskinn-brun.html
