Rule changes my man. These players are extremely talented but the fact that rookie Doncic already said:' The NBA is easier than Europe,' speaks volumes because he came into the league as a 19 year old.
Defenses arent allowed to play defense in the NBA so teams arent even really motivated to play D anymore in the regular season.
Even the coach of Minnesota after KAT scored 62, basically said it's horrible how teams just dont play defense.
Not to talk down on KAT's performance ofc, but to talk about the state of the game.

Luka could have gotten more but he passed up many opportunities. That trade on draft night will forever haunt me as a Hawks Fan but it was so true to Hawks form. Mavs fans better appreciate what they have & realize Playoff Seeding while important isn't as important when you have a player like Luka. Also the regular season is not as important in the NBA like it used to be. Having Luka healthy when the Playoffs start is the most important thing. As an Atlanta Fan I thought it couldn't get worse than signing Raheem Morris as the Falcons head coach but I was wrong. Thank God for the Braves.

Luca Doncic Scoring 73 points at 75% shooting and almost accounting for 50% of his team's total offense. We've seen a lot of amazing moments in NBA history, but Luca may have performed arguably the best offensive shooting clinic in league history.

Luka is a beast no doubt but there’s virtually no defense played in today’s NBA. Players are scoring 70 all too often. The NBA needs to do something about this is!

People saying "no defense is being played" must be watching only hawks, pacers, wizards games. I mean of course a bad defensive team is going to play bad defense on a random night in january of an 82 game season. But imagine having to double team an insane ball handler, hustle back to an elite shooter, if you make it in time be ready to stop him from driving, because at this point everyone in the league is also a good driver, then if you actually stop him, you have to be ready to help in the paint vs a 7 footer with better footwork and better touch than 90% of centers would have had in past eras, then back to your shooter guy and so on and so forth for 24 straight seconds. There is so much more grund to cover now that almost every player can shoot. Just because NBA offenses and offensive players have gotten a lot better doesn't mean that "no one plays defense".

@@michaelkristensen5966 the rules have been changed and the calls have been different in the post 2011-ish. Far less contact is allowed in today's game, making it relatively harder to defend and easier to get calls.

@@jjmmat133 Yep different type of assists from those two. Trae's are "playmaking" assists, Luka is more "I'm double-teamed or covered I should probably pass" type of assists. Both great players. I'm gonna sound crazy but I don't think Luka will ever win a championship. He is TOO ball-dominant. I've watched lots of Mavericks games and I'm convinced that even if he had something like both Lebron & AD as teammates he would only pass to them if necessary and they would end up with a fairly similar record. That's my opinion. Best part about my opinion is no one can say I'm wrong, unless Luka wins a championship.

@@jjmmat133 They have Lively who is very capable of being a good center who can catch and dunk alley-oops. I've seen it happen lots, but not enough - due to Luka hogging. They also have Derrick Jones who they can get to cut more for dunks or alley-oops. I just really think Luka is a bit self-centered. He's an amazing basketball player, but I don't think it's a winning formula, especially for the money he makes it will be hard to build a team around him that works - since he won't utilize his teammates properly anyway. They are 25-20 this year, last year they tanked cause they were so bad.. this year we will see what happens. I feel bad for Lively though getting stuck on a "team" like that. Not maximizing his potential at all. Averaging 8 pts 8 reb where if he started on any other team he'd probably be averaging a double-double easily.
Some guys don´t get it, Luka learned from football (sucker you know), the secret is in the way he bounces the ball, nobody realizes, any good midfield like brilliant Xavi Hernandez or Riquelme, these people hid the ball from defenders, the ball is always going to the farther point from any defender, that's how Luka can dribble slow and go where he wants to go, it seems easy, but it's an art, while everyone kips on following him, hi's out zigzagging them at his pleasure with his skillful legs. And, his hands are shutters hands basically.

Let s celebrate the moment. But honestly it tells you a lot about the state of the team. Do you remember the quality of the the Lakers when Kobe had his 81 points Game? A well functioning team doesn’t need the heroics of a 24 y old to win by 5 and get 143 pts. Please get a coach with some real coaching skills beyond basketball iq from his playing time. It s a hell of a job, but there are some really talented gutsy coaches out there with competence and a vision. What about Sam Cassell, Kenny Atkinson, Mike Budenholzer, Chris Quinn, Jordi Fernandez, Becky Hammon?
