  • An Honest Review of the HG P407, Otherwise Known as The Tamiya Bruiser Clone.
    I have always wanted a Bruiser however the price for the originals has skyrocketed beyond what the average enthusiast can afford. So I settled for a Clone.
    Now it may look almost identical to the originals the Clone does have a lot of flaws. Flaws aside I still love the Bruiser Clone. With a few upgrades and some tweaks it should end up rather capable.

    I’d love to have one of these, or a bruiser or mountaineer, or tge RC4wd tf2.. I wish they all weren’t so damned expensive

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  Před 11 měsíci

      Yeah the originals and RC4WD TF2 are way out of my budget.

    One thing I did notice with the kit version, all metal parts, including the screws and nuts, seem to have an oily coating on them . Maybe this is why thread lock doesn’t hold

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  Před 8 měsíci

      I wonder if it is the same with the rtr version.

    I love my P407. Considering the rere Bruiser is over a grand for the kit.. this is a better deal.

      Price wise yes hands down the clone is a much better deal.

    Its an archaic design. Even the mountaineer I had in 93 was plauged with issue straight out of the box. Then one of the gears stripped in the transmission. In a box it went.

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  Před 10 měsíci

      Do you still have it? They are such cool trucks even with their flaws.

      @THBB I ended up selling it back in 03. Made substantial profit though. 🤣 I will admit... I have one of these enroute. 😁

      @@houseofrandomness I bet you did. Those sell for a LOT of money. The Clones are a lot of fun.

    I’m starting to think there is a lot more overlap between Tamiya and certain RC companies then we’re perhaps lead to believe. Look at the cross rc dually kit, looks a lot like the sort of thing Tamiya may have developed

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  Před 10 dny

      I am sure if Tamiya wasn't directly involved their influence is there. Tamiya is one of the biggest RC companies. On top of that they have been around for a VERY Long time.

    It comes with pins to lock the diffs. And the shift servo needs a better servo saver.

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  Před 8 měsíci

      Mine didn't come with pins. Bummer. I do agree it needs a better shift servo as well as a steering servo. Recently mine decided to let go.

    Strange with threadlock, did you clean the threads with alcohol as if there was oil contamination it will come undone as red normally does not fail if not hard to get off. The grub screws, always been an issue on Tamiya at times even with Threadlock. What they charge in the UK it's a fraction of the price of buying the Tamiya one, £225 for it Tamiya £700 plus radio, servo's and ESC. The on/off switch, make something that covers it and use magnets to hold that on. You could make a full feature of bits and bobs.

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Yeah I must have missed a small bit of something before applying the threadlock. The price for the Tamiya is outrageous.

      I drill a hole into the motor shaft where the grub screw grips. Never had the pinion gear come loose after that.

    You can’t use red loctite with nyloc nuts because the loctite eats into the nylon. Try thin ca glue

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  Před 7 měsíci

      There is a switch on the remote. However sometime I notice on mine in order to get it into 2 low the truck has to be moving in order for the servo to get it into gear. Either that or I put it in 2 hi and then seitch to 2 low and it works.
