Speaking in the Canadian House of Commons during question period on Tuesday, Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner swore as she criticized liberals for not speaking up during the third reading of the Cost of Living Relief Act, exclaiming “Enough with the woke sh*t.”
Rempel immediately apologized for her “unparliamentary language” and corrected herself to saying “enough with the woke stuff.”
Deputy Speaker Chris d'Entremont, while laughing, said that he “appreciated the retraction.”

The parliamentary budget officer says the federal government's proposed changes to the alternative minimum tax will generate an additional $2.6 billion in revenue over five years.

I understand her point, but having taken a basic economics class, the main thing I learned that I still take with me is that things are a bit more convoluted and counterintuitive than they may seem at face level (and that economics is a bit more of an art than a science in many areas). Increasing taxes is sometimes specifically done to combat inflation (believe it or not). Higher taxes can reduce consumer spending, leading to demand for goods and services to decrease. Decreased demand helps slow and control inflation. Although, nothing is without issue and it is a never-ending battle to find the right balance to keep the economy intact. Make taxes too high and consumers won't have any disposable income (only buy necessities) which will slow economic growth to an extent and could even cause a recession.

Does the country have an abundance of wealth? Yes. Do citizens share in that wealth? No. Who does? The rich. Wealth goes from the rich, trickles down to the workers... in other countries. The Liberals cater to the rich, the Conservatives cater to the rich. Has either closed down tax havens? Has either given as Michelle Rempel says, a "@#$%"? We have an opposition party that's very mad... that it's not them getting rewarded from the rich to carry their agenda instead of the Liberals.

Conservative discussion about taxation is almost about self interested greed cloaked as "sound economics". The late Hugh Segal was a rare Conservative who spoke the truth about taxes . . . He has a brilliant piece in Himelfarbs book called "Tax is Not a Four Letter Word" . . . In sum, he correctly points out that contemporary tax rage illogically separates the discussion of taxes with the discussion of what taxes pay for and why we have them in the first place. The ingnorant MP could stand to be "woke" herself because her little toddler tantrum suggests she is asleep on the matter

It seems the real inflation is the inflation of facts, a common persuasion tactic used by conservative politicians. 'Taking your loaf of bread and giving you back crumbs!'
Bread is not even a taxed item. If it were, taking 13% off would still give you a loaf minus the heels. The 13% goes toward our essential services and the growth of our economy, which make Canada one of the top countries in the world based on our quality of life. The countries at the very bottom of that list are all conservative states (go figure).
I'm starting to think that most conservatives are just unthinking automatons who have no clue what they really want. Except for being angry, entitled and prejudiced together in their own little circle-tug of reciprocation (convoy... *cough*).
If our government is as bad as the psychopathic liar in the video pretends to think, why would upstate New Yorkers be "skipping the line" to move here in the first place?
If you don't believe your country should come before yourself, you'd better serve your country by living somewhere else. We can easily find better citizens who are desperate to replace you.
