    Can you comment on the carbon fiber tube construction? Does it look like the carbon filaments are woven in one continuous weave or does it show a seam that runs up and down the tube? It seems no one wants to answer this question on the other reviews for this tripod. It is a simple question that I hope someone will respond to.

    i like the benro range, i have the travel slim, classic go-plus, and the SC08, all carbon fiber ones
    also have the benro gh5c carbon fibre gimble head, very good prices throughout the range
    no problems in 2 years, been in the water and mud alot, easy to strip and clean the sections if necessary

    Good little tool Paul 👍and good info great to get free gifts 😉 I have something similar but when centre column raised I find press record button and it tends to wobble before settling any advice? Ps would it take a gimbal head thanks

    • @PaulMiguelPhotography
      @PaulMiguelPhotography  Před rokem +1

      It's always a problem Paul. Just try to press as smoothly as possible, or possibly use a remote but I've never done that. Regards a gimbal, I don't think it would really and I wouldn't recommend it for a lot of wildlife lenses.

      Hi Karen. I think it might be pushing it. It may be ok when shooting, but possibly carrying it around on the tripod head, it might slip. I have only used it with small lenses so far, as I plan to use it just for landscape and macro.

      @@KarenVaisman1 I love the look of this travel tripod too but would want it to handle a D850 with a 70-200m f2.8 and at the same time remain suitable for backpacking .... is that really possible? ;)

    Ordered mine last Saturday and your video confirms my thoughts and is reassuring. Anyone buying should make sure they use your coupon and go through Ulanzi website. There are other sites that seem cheaper but have really bad reviews. Also when I was trying to add a coupon I left in in the basket maybe for a day then bought. They’d emailed me a 10% coupon. Had bought by them and don’t know if I could have applied that as well. I’m expecting import or vat on my delivery but did you have anything to pay this end?

      Hi Paul. I hope it all worked out then.? No, I didn't have to pay anything this end at all and delivery was pretty fast too. I hope you enjoy using the tripod!

    That is basically the exact same design as the peak design tripod. It is cheaper, but the center column thing isn’t so clever because it has been done before.

      It is an improvement on the basic Peak Design. I have both and I never liked the way the PD head works. Though they look similar they are really quite different it to mention that the Ulanzi & Colman is nearly half the price of the PD.

      I see your point. I agreed to do a fair review on the tripod and Ulanzi let me keep the tripod. I will always be as honest as I can with product reviews. There are things I don't like about this tripod much mostly I am very impressed.

    Ulanzi is a nightmare of a company to work with and it does not care about its customers. I have major issues with my Ulanzi Zero Y tripod which I bought in November 2022. The ballhead is loose and drifts even when fully locked, using a light camera/lens combo. They will not respond to emails. I do not recommend any Ulanzi product after my own personal experience with the product and their absentee customer service. I guarantee you that if you have any issues at all with your tripod, you will not be helped.

    • @PaulMiguelPhotography
      @PaulMiguelPhotography  Před rokem

      I am very sorry you have had this experience. I have had some wobble with the connecting column under the ball head, but the ball head itself has been very solid for me. If you want to email me, paul@naturephotographycourses.co.uk with your details I would be happy to contact Ulanzi on your behalf.

    WOW, how much does that tripod look like a Peak Design tripod knock/rip-off.

      but enhanced

    • @christophmuller3511
      @christophmuller3511 Před rokem +4

      Not really - it shows that the big selling point of the PD, it’s fancy shaped legs aren’t really necessary to create a compact tripod. The head is similar to the point that both are inverted ball heads and low profile with an arca swiss mount, but that’s where the similarities end. The U&C is acting like a bowl head when fully retracted while the PD doesn’t allow for movement without extending the Center column. Further, the PD lacks the panorama function which enables a much wider range of rotation in vertical mode on the U&C.

    • @LisaOsta
      @LisaOsta Před rokem +3

      Not really it is an improvement.

    • @ciba20
      @ciba20 Před rokem

      @@christophmuller3511 Thank you for telling the truth for me. Peak Design is indeed a great innovator by rethinking the clever use of space in a tripod and it doesn't take a genius at all to see where they got their inspiration.
      And yes, anyone has the right to rethink and improve a product if they can do it better and compete.
      This is called evolution and selection.

    Not true arca swiss. These ulanzi plates can go to other heads, but other plates cannot go on this head, even when the little screws are removed. My experiences have told me only go to real arca swiss. They meant professional design and makes life much easier. I have a couple of none arca swiss tripods laying around and plates are missing. I'm willing to pay a few hundred more for true arca swiss.
