Nice work! It's great to hear slap style with groove and feel. There are too many slappers out there with lightning speed/technique but no sense of rhythm... and you are not one of them. You have the speed, technique, AND a sense of rhythm. Great playing. And that deluxe j-bass sounds great.

Yeah they are badass! I'd like to investigate getting a proper vintage style jazz as well...I like the look of the Flea signature model but I imagine they are way overpriced...Sire make some good cheap jazz basses that sound fantastic these days too...in fact lots of brands make some pretty awesome ones!

I'm learning this song on bass along with picking back up the double thumb stuff from a few years ago. Love this groove and I can actually play it if I learn it piece by piece. Your video is helping and your technique is killer by the way. I never really developed the more advance slap stuff like this when learning to play. Never too late! Thanks for a great cover!
Nice one Carl...there's not too much double thumbing in this one really, only a couple of licks...best of luck! You could always try Rio Funk too, which is another one of my cover videos, it has a really nice, approachable slap solo in it...

carl richardson I think they are D'Addario Strings - same gauge as Marcus Miller uses, little bit heavier at the bottom, little bit lighter at the top. I put them on the same day as this recording so they sound pretty darn snappy!
Yea man, they sound killer. I used D'Addario for a long time. My bass is 35 inch scale so those are hard to find in that length. Been using the Peavy cirrus strings which are standard 35 inch scale. They may actually be made by D'Addario, lol. D'Addario are the best.
