    This is my first video on a protected area outside the US. It was a ton of fun to make and I want to know if that's something people are interested in? It was always in my plans to do some international videos, but let me know what you think down below 👇🏻

      Yes, please don't confine yourself to US topics. The entire planet is connected in ways we still are learning about. What happens on the other side of the planet affects us all.

      Thanks for the feedback! I have some cool ideas for parks and protected areas outside the US so good to know there's an audience for them! I think it will be a great learning experience as well since I'm certainly more familiar with parks in the US.
      I couldn't agree more though with your interconnectedness comment! These systems are so complex and interesting and difficult - all the more reason to learn about them and tell their stories!

    Excellent video. I'm Belizean and I can say our barrier reef is so important to us. I'm glad others find this information interesting.

      Any updates on the reef (bleaching, cover, overall health, etc.)? As a concerned American for reefs all over the world, this is super important to me and would love to hear any input you have! 🪸🐠

    And most grateful to be a tour guide out here. I love the video with so much knowledge bro! Our reefs and protected areas are like no other

    We own land in Belize on the Corozal Bay and have been alarmed at the loss of coral in recent years. I'm glad steps are being taken to save the second largest known coral reef on the planet.

    • @NationalParkDiaries
      @NationalParkDiaries  Před 2 lety +1

      Sadly, most of the news about coral reefs these days isn't good... I was just reading about the latest bleaching event on the Great Barrier Reef. But that's also why I was glad to learn about what Belize and Fragments of Hope are doing to help restore the reefs down there. Even small efforts like that one give me hope that our reefs can have a future.

      @@NationalParkDiaries All we can do is try to save them. I'm hoping the corals will migrate to cooler locations, but that will take generations; time most corals do not have.

    Fantastic video! Yes, you should consider areas outside the US. I, for one, would love to see it! There are a surprising amount of conservation efforts, going on all over the world, working to protect biodiversity and restore habitats. Lots of subject matter in that department. I think some of the International park/preserve cooperation and coordination between the US and our neighbors to the north (Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park) and south (El Carmen Big Bend Complex) would make interesting subject matter. Thanks for another informative video! - Mike

      Thanks Mike! Those are great ideas, I especially like the international cooperation angle. There are a ton of great conservation efforts going on around the world, you're right - and a bunch of parks through which to tell their stories! I'm going to add those to my list and put some plans together. Thanks for the feedback!

      @NationalParkDiaries  Před 2 lety +5

      Ahhhh, noted! Another mispronunciation to add to the books! I've already gotten dinged on "Tamiami" for my Everglades video and for "Saguaro" in that video. Thanks for the correction though - I always like to set the record straight.

      @samsmom1491 Před 2 lety

      @@NationalParkDiaries It's a common thing to say it the way it's spelled and one I made until I watched some videos about it. Florida gave up and that's why we have the Florida Keys. I mispronounced hyperbole until well into my thirties, so never too late to learn. 🙂

    A few years back the Belize Government held a referendum on drilling for oil in the country, after oil was discovered here, not a wealthy country soooooo, it was defeated by 90% to 10%. One of my friends here said, we are not going to destroy paradise for money.

      Lots of stuff on the net, you can meet Government PEOPLE, they are very helpful, not at all like the USA. The Belizeian Cost Guard really works and are a good group, have my Captain's Master license for 4 years now, ex-pats even the Republican ones, protect this country, it is something to see.
