    I have a Mazda 2, petrol, manual, the mid power version, I love it, people comment on how it looks like a posher bigger car due to it's style, the red is an amazing colour. Interior is very good for the class and price, driving it is great, gear box is short and quick, the lack of turbo is no problem at all as a little more revs and the acceleration is enough, it likes to rev too, I drive it like it's stolen a few times when the roads are quiet and I'm on my way to work at 5:30 am and it puts a bigger smile on my face than high power cars, motorway cruising is quiet and the engine isn't straining at 80mph /130kmh. Any small turbo cars I had in the past (VW group) gave non stop problems, this has been bullet proof so far (2.5 years).

      @@arryt3912 no I don’t, changed jobs and needed something bigger, wish I still had it! I would guess on a motorway it used 5 l/100km and town driving maybe 6. Although I would say don’t concentrate too much on the numbers, it was fun to drive, had a bit more grown up feeling and better cabin than most small cars and was pretty nippy for a 1.5. Would still highly recommend it.

    Mizno Kaztoshi, the chief engineer of the Nissan R35 GTR, just recently examined these two small hatches for a Japanese motoring magazine on a race track and gave the Swift a 90 and the Mazda 2 an 80, noting the suspension setup and the overall chassis balance of the Mazda were not near as sophisticated and refined as the Suzuki's. That's why I'm so interested in the upcoming Suzuki Swift Sport right now...

      averagejoe That's interesting... and actually quite surprising to me. I have driven the new 2 and found it to be excellent in terms of chassis dynamics and steering feel although I understand the Swift is strong in this respect too. I agree about the Swift Sport. The new turbocharged model promises to be impressive, and I would definitely be interested in test driving it.

    Mazda 2 is an excellent B segment offering in my opinion. Having driven the current 2 in a few guises here in the UK including the impressive 1.5d it is the one I pick. It doesn't just look good and drive well it has a well finished and executed interior. That said the Swift is undoubtedly appealing too, especially the upcoming Sport version. It's a shame Mazda don't offer a hot version of the 2.

      JDM boy I have had my Mazda 2 115 Sport Nav for 18 months now, absolutely in love with the car. For a Supermini it’s a shoebox length shorter than my previous mkii 3mps was! And yet given its 1000kg weight the 1.5 has more than enough poke for all situation (literally not found a situation yet where even fully loaded on a long holiday commute it struggles) and it’s fun to use all the revs whilst throwing it down the roads near where I live in the Peak District.
      I had always said though that a slightly wider track, sticky rubber and the 2.0 engine and brakes from the 3 would transform the 2 from a sporty great to drive supermini into a proper fun little hot hatch.

    I think Suzuki is one step forward than mazda and honda in terms of durability through years. I still see 60, 70 or 80 model suzukies on the road but where is 60's or 70's mazdas hondas? Are they disappeared suddenly or thrown into car trash?

    • @maximuskhan6135
      @maximuskhan6135 Před 6 lety +5

    • @ablanuza76
      @ablanuza76 Před 6 lety +8

      Suzuki IS much more durable and reliable than Mazda. The data and consumer reports reflect this. A colleague of mine used a Suzuki Swift to travel long distance through and across Australia along with friends in Toyotas and Mazdas. Before they reached their destination, the Toyota and Mazda where having engine problems. His Swift was still running strong.
