Thank you sir! Very informative... Just starting out on CZcams myself and I accidentally bought the MXL 990 Condenser Microphone (non usb) because it was on mega sale online. After doing so I realized I had no idea what I just bought and was freaked out, you just helped me out a ton! You are a gentlemen and a scholar.
+Xavier's Garage Glad I could help :)

Hey I've just brought the microphone that you said cost you $13 and I was wondering if you have uploaded a video on how to set it up as I can not figure it out to save me life thanks
So the question I have is how do use a 48 v phantom power supply that goes into my iPhone that requires headphones listening to me talk or sing. I currently am using a Tc helicon go vocal but I find myself carrying it back and forth to my car cause I sing and drive. But want to make one that dosent require me to move my equipment back and forth but more professional. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks dude! This helped alot! I subscribe, keep up the good work!
Thank you, will do! :)
474k,....views and less than 3000 subscription....why are some people so ungrateful...it would only take less than a second to hit the subscribe button.
it says your not subbed to him
SUBSCRIBED! Raise your hand if you love when the tutorial actually works?
i dont think my PC has an XR3 inport port, what could i do to make my behringer c3 i accidentally bought when i wanted a c1 work?
so this is what i get
Behringer with xr3 to the power supply
hook up another xr3 to power supply
end of 2nd xr3 to pc
but where to? can i convert it somehow? what entrance am i looking for?
Your voice is extremely soothing. lol Great video! Keep up the good work! :)
Okay so i have the same Mic as you with the 48V Phantom power supply and all the right cables i set it up and it was working fine and i could hear the Mic when i testing it on the Recording devices but shortly after it stopped working and now when i try to listen to the device or record with it all i hear is a buzzing sound i researched about it but i can't find anything to help
Hi, I still have the mic but kind of forgot about it. I wanted to try again to set it up. So I'm still confused at what the problem is
PurpleOfMurple i feel bad for you
yeah bro nah heh lol, do you have any idea to help me xD
Check all of your cable connections, make sure everything is plugged all the way in. Then, I would check your recording level and make sure that it is not up too much as that could be bringing the noise floor up and that might be what you are hearing. Also, there may be components that are adding noise to the signal. I found that my zoom h4n was adding a buzz when I would listen through the headphones while recording live, but it wouldn't be in the actual recording.
Me too, CZcams doesn't always show me all the comments for some reason.
When I "listen" to my device it sounds like a little heartbeat over and over, what does this mean?
herAddiction88 it means the power used in it isnt efficent enough or it has a faulty piece
It means you're pregnant
Very Helpful.. Solved my problem. Thanks!
hi, my blue yeti was destroyed yesterday jaja, and i want to buy some new micro but i really dont know wich select, i have an interface (ur12) , i just need to record guitar (acoustic and classical guitar) can you guide me? please
This guy will show us the matrix next.
I learnt a lot more from you than school makes you want to question the schooling system
Indeed.
To be fair... it's not something you need to know as common knowledge, and schools that are specialized in music or the like probably do teach you that.
I just bought the Neewer NW 1500 and it does connect to the 3.5 mm jack on my mac. Do you know if an 3.5 audio splitter will allow for me to plug the mic in as well as plugging in headphones in order to hear my voice? Please let me know, Im sorry if the question is confusing.
Came for the thumbnail, stayed for the video
I have made a Q and A video to answer some common questions: czcams.com/video/PmYBkyif3lo/video.html
Artificial Human Intelligence sir I really need yours help 😭😭 yesterday I was parches *RC-02 mic* but I can't record my voice using it I try think
can you pls explain why u sound good when ur on cam and then sound so bad when u work on the pc screen? i dont get it...
Artificial Human Intelligence u got a lot noise in the background
Artificial Human Intelligence thank u it helped a lot.
Did anyone notice his eye was literally popping out in the thumbnail?
Can I hook my CB mic (RK-56) to my karaoke mic cord ? 🤔 ...?
Awesome and easy to follow! Thanks a bunch for this video - it was just enough info, and just what I needed! I have subscribed. :)
You're welcome, and Thank you!
@@MacAmbrais - I've gotten everything set up with the Phantom Power Supply and an out-cable to USB. Works like a charm! The recording in Windows is pretty soft / quiet. I'm trying to configure for more. I expect if I did noise reduction on this in Audacity, it would sound like a weeny little mouse... BUT there's so little noise to remove that I'm like... maybe it's a waste of energy? Lol!
Except for the helicopter that just flew over my recording. Grrrr!
I bought Bm-800 and an audio interface M-audio MK2 , the other dynamic microphone is working fine but for some reason the bm-800 is not working, all i hear is buzzing noise at 100% gain, doesn't work even after turning on the phantom power on the m-audio mk2, i have xlr to 6.5mm cable, do i need xlr - xlr cable to power the microphone or do you think the microphone is damaged ??? help me out please
You deserve more subs :-)
Millie Meow Thank you :)
+Artificial Human Intelligence definitely no problem, I just ordered the Phantom power thing, but does the bm 700 work with it?
It should work.
+Artificial Human Intelligence Thanks!
Instead of a 3.5 jack can it be XLR to USB?
I also need too know this
Maik Zebraz Yeah it works. I got an xlr to usb
+latE TheGamer link/product?
+ItsProPig www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00B6WZGHS?fp=1&pc_redir=T1 there are cheaper ones that are shorter but I got that one , a behringer micropower ps4000 48v amp. And a smaller monoprice xlr female to xlr male
+latE TheGamer tnx :D
You definitly deserve more subs homie
***** Thank you. :)
Hi! Im using a SC450 t.bone, got the xlr to the preamp, then a 6.3mm to 3.5mm jacked into the macbook, shouldn't that work? xlr goes into input and output with the 6.3mm with the 3.5mm! I got phantom enabled but it still dosen't show in the microphone devices
"And what does a trans do sir?" 0:58
They tend to change.
@@MacAmbrais haha, I get what you did there😂
Thank you very much :) the problem was it was the phantom power i've been asking myself for years now. On what the phantom power is for.. then.. i've recently bought a condenser microphone Shure Beta 27 then it wasn't working. LUCKILY! Though i have my own mixer also with my uphoria behringer404mc Hd interface..
And thanks to this video i now know how to use this...
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! I'll create a cover then i'll let you hear my performance. Thank you again so much!! 🌹💖💖💖💖🌹
Awesome, I look forward to hearing it!
Really helpful video man, thanks
Glad I could help :)
Hi! I have an Aston Origin condensor mic. Can I just get a straight phantom power setup or do I need an audio interface? There's a but of a price difference between the two
i had the 700th like!!!
same on windows 10?
that's what I want to know
Yeah I wonder that too, did you ever find out?
+Simple Productions download audacity its a audio recording software
There's a built-in app looking pretty similar to this, search for "Steps Recorder"
its the same for everything, not just Windows.
if you have a condenser mic that needs to be powered, you will need a power source in order to get a good recording. This could be to your computer or to any recording device.
Thanks for the video. I use a MXL 770 + a mixer to record instrument sound (chinese violin), and I use Audacity. But when the instrument is played lightly, the sound would suddenly becomes significantly low , almost disappearing (I hope you understand what I meant).. Graphically speaking, the sound wave suddenly becomes flat.. Do you know why is that??
Thank you so much for the help and info man!! One question, though. Can I use a usb audio adapter to fill the void of phantom power? Specifically a Sabrent usb audio adapter? I just bought my microphone and can't afford to buy a phantom power supply. Thank you ever so much again!
"artificial human intelligence" now that is artificial intelligence what does that even mean
It means that most of our intelligence is artificially boosted by our awesome magic rectangles that fit in our pocket. In this way, by making videos, i am adding to that. At least the how to videos.
lol this guy looks like a white lawrence fishburn xD hahahahahahaha
Can't unsee that now, so I'll take that as a compliment to both our handsome manly looks. LOL
lol dude
OMG YOUR RIGHT😂💀
Bruh 😂😂😂
How do I access the review of the mic with 3.5mm jack that you showed. I have one and it did not come with any documentation so it works in one way and not in others
Will a condenser mic even without Phantom Power? I bought a Takstar Tak35 and it wouldnt seem to work with my mixer that has no phantom power. However, I also have a BM-800 and it works directly straight to the PC
Okay, so I'm watching this and I can't help but notice he looks like a white Morfius.
anyone else see it?
I get that a lot. :)
That's funny lol
Listen, I clicked on this video to figure out how to set up a condenser microphone. I don't need to know the definition of a microphone, or what everything does, I just want to know where to plug shit in.
EPZY same
EXACTLY! I WANT TO MAKE SOUNDS FOR MY SCRATCH GAME AND I WANT TO BE SURE I PLUGGED THE MIC IN THE RIGHT PLACE! btw im using a mac.
EPZY fr tho!
yo did u find out cos I'm still wondering got my mic today, but when I click on it in sounds, it doesn't work pls help
did you get a power source for it as well? I made that mistake when I got my first condenser mic
i have 2 BM-700 mics that i want to use for a podcast. i have 2 XLR cables to connect the mics to my mixer which is a Mackie ProFx12v2 USB Mixer that has 48V. When i tried to hook them up and record, the quality sounded great but there was a noticeably loud hum or buzz sound coming thru my head phones while recording. Can you please tell me what i could be possibly have been doing wrong? Thanks in advance because i would hate to see these brand new mics go to waste due to what could be human error
Very Good Tutorial, Well Done !
Thank you. :)
Is it just me or does this sound like 5th grade science class
Legend has it if you like this comment u will pass 5th grade
I hope you were paying attention. There will be a mic test later.
Hello there. Thanks for sharing. I have an MX-100 condenser mic that came with a studio kit. I have all of the XLR cords as well as a phantom power supply. I do not have an interface and I'm using an iPad for audio. Im trying to avoid buying a new mic. Do you have any suggestions for anything else I need?
So my mic isn't coming up as an option on settings? The computer is essentially processing it like a speak, not a mic (ie, it will record via an inbuilt speaker, but plays back via the mic because it is in the audio jack. Do you suggest I get a sound card?
what if i dont have a phantom power and only have the mic...will it still work, if i just connect it directly to the pc or laptop?
I have bought the NW-800 microphone along with a phantom power supply, I use it on a desktop which has a pink microphone jack. Yet the volume is extremely low (barely detects my voice) and very noisy as if there's a vent in the background. What am I doing wrong?
Quick question, what setup would you suggest for a ASMR food channel? Im considering getting a Blue Yeti Pro and a Zoom H4N(for the phantom power supply). I have a Cannon T6i to record with and I’ll have a dell laptop or either a Apple MacBook Air. Are all of these items compatible to record with at one time? I not big on technology so I don’t know what does what. But I’ve been trying to research and get the best for the best sound.
can the xlr output wire be connected to a speaker? does it work with bm-800?
How do I set my XLR > Audio interface > PC as a default "speech" mic? whenever I try to see it up it won't let me individually because I'm running a "Line in," not a "microphone." Any Suggestions?
Hi i have a condenser mic connected to my PC (through an adaptor provided) , when i tried recording, it creates this buzz or hum sound. I got a phantom power, connected everything and its still creating this buzz sound in the playback... how do i stop getting the buzz/hum?
So I have a condenser mic but I don't have a power source just a USB plug In that I'm assuming works as one but my problem is that when I listen back to the audio that I record I get the high pitched noise that you were talking about and I don't know how to fix it.
I'm recording music so I do use headphones while recording but is there any way to bypass tjos high pitched noise?
Are you listening to it live or do you hear it when you play it back? Sometimes you can hear a high pitched hiss when you are listening to it live just from different components in the system. I would get a phantom power source, without one you will have to boost the mic to the point where the noise floor may become a problem.
You have to have something else to power the microphone it just dosnt start when it’s plugged in
Can we hear ourself with bm 800 microphone live like when performing? And is phantom power supply an audio interface through which we can hear us live too?
Any help would be highly appreciated!
So, my bm800 requires phantom power? I was under the impression that phantom is 48v, and my bm800 has an operating voltage of 5-9v.. I wont kill the mic by plugging it into phantom power? I am trying to get it setup with a Roland micro cube (guitar amp) and a USB power supply for phantom. The chain i am thinking is bm800 into phantom power via XLR, and take signal from the phantom with an XLR to 1/4" male output into the guitar amp. Would this work?
So is this why without the power source my XLR mic is super quiet with some odd echoes? I have my mic plugged directly into my Sound Blaster Z sound card via a 3.5mm plug.
I have a nw-800 plugged into my innogear phantom and then plugged into my MacBook pro but it won't show up on my input devices. I need help..
This video was very informative! Just wondering, if a a power supply that's separate is always the case? I have a steinberg interface and wonder when it says about its phantom capabilities but does that mean it has the powering element or does it mean that it simply has the ability to receive the power input?? I'm confused??
Needing help.
Thanks!! Straight to the point, clear and simple. new sub
Thank you.
quick question I recent got one in the mail today and it didn't come with the Phantom power supply but it came with an adapter that connects to my pc via USB I got some loud feedback is there any way around it or do I have to have the power supply
You probably need the power supply. Unless the usb cable works like a Blue Icicle usb to xlr, which is not typical.
I love your vidoes, learning while... learning. Anyways i like ur vids.
+TooLordForYou Thank you. :)
Very In-depth video thank you
hI have the behringer 1832 that has phantom power i also have the bm 800 can i use an xlr cable from mic to behringer what would i need after that to send to computer
Thanks man the video realy helped.
So I have a mac laptop and no XLR cable. My line-in input does not seem to be working, and I need your help.
Dude I have A Question ..!!
Please Tell Me ..!!
When U Connect Mic To C.p.u Sound Card in Recording there Was A Noise Generating ..!! And in Recording there Will Be Audio Recorded but Its Baground will be noisy With white Or Pink Noise ..!! So My Question is Can We Use XLR Cable to Connect it to Mixer Or Audio Interface ??? And when we Will Does it will Generates Noise ?? Or not
how do I get rid of the feedback? I connected everything like you showed, my voice and sound are coming out through the speakers but I keep getting feedback, is there a way to separate the sounds? I'm not sure if I'm making any sense lol
Hello, I know nothing about recording audio and microphones other than what I have just learned in this video. Why does the quality sound so much worse when you are using the computer? Is there something else you need besides the phantom power source to make the quality sound better if you want to record with this mic?
I switched to the small red mic and my computer is a jet engine. :)
can Floureon BM 800 be connecting direct with smartphone w/o phantom power??
Hey I’m trying to plug a small diaphram condenser mic into a powered monitor and it’s not working. But the mic works when I use it through my audio interface. What’s the issue?
I keep coming back to this video to listen to the BM-800 in combination with the H4n with my headphones on. I already owned the Zoom H4n and was looking for a good sounding, cheap Mic! The BM-800 sounds very good in this video, i went ahead and purchased Bm-800 because of your video. Just wanted to say thanks for your great vids! I like my new BM-800!!
I bought a MXL 500/551 pack and it seems to have both low sound when I speak and is muffled, I'm not sure if the mic is adequate for talking normally such as over Skype. plz help
I have tried basically everything I have the mic connected properly and the phantom supply box for it to run through when I go to devices it says it's "not plugged in" and won't let me do anything else
I have the BM 800 and i want to get that phantom power but im in the uk so what power adapter do i get
Hi! I have zoom h1 already, if I buy BM-800 with xlr cable, what else do I need?
Clear & Informative. So, the "digital" condenser is less sensitive than the traditional one which is far more expensive?
Very good video, I especially liked that you went trough some theory. However I have a problem with my bm800: I am using focusrite scarlett 2i2 (it has phantom power) but I get absolutely nothing. Could it be a problem that I have plugged the bm800 to the scarlett via xlr - 3.5mm jack with a adaptor? I believe that I should also be able to hear something when I plug this mic straight to laptop but I dont. Thanks in advance!
The BM800 comes with an XLRStereo cable, right? Doesn't look like 3.5mm from the picture. Looks like I need to buy a XLR 3 pin (both ends) to run between the mic and the phantom power supply. The Power supply doesn't appear to come with a cable. What type of cable do I run between the phantom power supply and my laptop? I only have USB and Aux (headphone-3.5mm) jacks on my laptop. A headphone jack is not the same as a stereo jack, would I need a stereo-to-headphones(3.5mm adapter? Does such a thing exist? Love this video but more information on the cabling would be helpful. Thanks.
