I had my daughter 2 months ago via elective c section and it was the best decision I had ever made. The midwives that are in the room are absolutely amazing and are so comforting especially if you're scared of needles! I'm like Leah I didn't want to see anything but my partner did. With my previous experience before having my daughter, hearing her cry was the most surreal experience.

Natural birth is not for everyone. With my first I had an induction, it was awful, everything went wrong and I was begging from the start for a C-section, ended up needing an emergency csection due to the baby's heartbeat dropping and me bleeding loads. I did have quite a lot of trauma from that but the csection was a breeze, the recovery was so easy and I was happy.
With my second, I had a planned csection. I loved knowing when it was going to be. Unfortunately everything went wrong for me, the spinal went to my brain, the pain was so bad it felt like my brain was coming out of my skull, I couldn't open my eyes the whole time so couldn't see my son be born, it caused heart issues, I was being sick constantly, It was horrendous. It took 10 weeks to recover.
I have had both good and bad experiences and honestly just want to say no matter how it happens for someone else, it won't be the same for you. Thank you for sharing your experience ☺️

I actually thought you elected to get a C-section ahead of time, it makes me feel so much better knowing you initially hated the idea but then came around and had a good experience - I'm terrified of birth but C-section scares me so much too, I'm not squeamish seeing other people's surgeries and even helping with wound dressings etc (had to help my partner after a cyst removal recently) but when it comes to myself I cannot cope at all. I had a chest reduction at 19 and I felt utterly useless and sick for weeks :(( I guess it's made me more afraid of medical stuff

I have to say I’m with you with the vaginal exams… Mine we’re excruciating at one point I asked them to stop and they didn’t… so as you can imagine intense trauma left behind from that. My cervix actually had to be pulled over baby’s head to the front as it was the wrong way round. I just want to say please talk about it as much as you need to the people you love, it’s haunted me for nearly 4 years. Many congrats on Oakley and best of luck for the future.

Genuine question...why wasn't Caitlyn allowed to stay if she is the other parent?

I just gave birth myself last week too. I had wanted to go into labor naturally, labor without an epidural, and delivery vaginal. None of that really happened 🤣. I kept telling myself the whole pregnancy though not to be too attach to any particular plan. I had gone into early labor January 18 but just never progressed to active labor. I was having contractions but not strong ones. So two weeks later I'm 41 weeks they said let's just induced me. So I got induced, still labored without an epidural I was in labor for 10 hrs, pushed for 2 hours but he just wasn't moving. I was begging for a C section. Cause he wasn't moving the doctor agreed I needed a c section. Baby ended up being exactly 11lbs, but he was so worth it. He's the sweetest little baby.

I'm so glad that your experience was so positive! I think it's so important to hear different positive experiences and to know that you can still feel good about things even if it doesn't go to your original plan. I had really hoped to go into birth naturally, but I ended up actually having a gel induction the same day as you, (so following your journey at the same time was so fun!). Fortunately my body responded really positively to the gel, I started contractions that night, my water broke the following morning, and I was able to have a home water birth which is what I was hoping for on the 12th. I did end up having a 4th degree tear, baby girl was 99th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference, and came out with her fist up, so I had to transfer to hospital to have stitches, but overall it was a positive experience, even though I was initially worried about being induced. So excited for your sweet little family, and wishing you a speedy recovery!

My spinal block ick. I felt it. He was putting it in my back, and it felt like bubbles popping in my back, and then it started to hurt. I jumped and said it hurts it hurts and the nurse pinned me down and was like, "DONT MOVE DONT MOVE STOP MOVING." They Numbed me some more, and then my bottom and legs got very, very warm, and then I didn't feel any pain. After he was born, they checked me with ice, and I wasn't watching, and shes like, "Can you feel this?" and I was like, "Are you even touching me?" I looked, and she had a bag of ice sitting on my belly. I was like "Oh, no, I guess not. "It took a long time for me to get my feeling back.
My epidural with my first son I could move still. Not well, but I could move. There was no way I was just going to get up and start just walking like nothing happened after an epidural. But I could walk, but it wasn't easy. It was quite annoying, actually. I could still walk slow and / or with help. Legs felt heavy and weak and hard to control at times. My spinal block I couldn't move at all for hours. Very different expirences. Loved watching yours congrats on your boy ♡ I love you guys ♡
