A Complete Suspension Deep Clean & Refresh On My M Tech 2 BMW E30

- Scrubbing, squirting, sanding, painting, and attempting to be a mechanic all in one video, fantastic! Today I took on the task of cleaning the wheel arches on my 1990 BMW E30 M Tech 2 car. Upon driving the car it was very evident the suspension was tired and very soggy, so I used this opportunity to remove the springs and struts to replace them with everyones favourite setup from Bilstein and H&R. This will not be the permanent suspension setup on the car but it sure will ride a lot better for the time being. Once reaseembled and installed I think it gave the wheel arches a very solid look. Very happy! There will be a second part to this video where the remaining components that make up the suspension/braking are addressed! Most Excellent work. That spec of E30 is really cool. At one time I worked for a Independent BMW repair shop and we use to see some really great examples of the different cars. I use to wait for Days, Weeks and sometimes a Month for parts that had to come from Germany for them... Originally I chose the H&R O.E. Sport Springs for the slight lowering. (Don't want to test the fate of the Oil Pan) and Koni's. The Koni's sucked so I did the job a second time and went for Sachs Touring OE replacement type Shocks and Struts for now. Upgraded Rear Sway Bar a couple of Millimeters. Eibach 16mm. Recommend Garagistic Front Strut Tower Brace (Had mine Powder Coated nicely) (no goofy color) and the quickie Z3 rear shock tower top reinforcement plate. My son and I embrace the 'OE Plus' type upgrades with our BMW's however his E46 is basically a Track Car in disguise. My next delight is a complete, rear SubFrame out, overhaul on the E30. I have all the bits just can't catch the minute to get er' done.

Nice vid, do you find those ik spray foamers fowl up with that cheap plastic pump steam particles and you have to keep changing the round filters to get it to spray consistently?
Can u plz share your assesments after using these combination? In my opinion Hr springs are generally not comfortable

You rattle gunned the wheels on. You already went past the torque settings, unless you loosened each one and torqued back up ?

All the torque sets should be done when the cars on the ground..

For future reference trying get some Milwaukee 5.0 batteries. That impact gun isn’t at its full potential!
You do realize that Bilstein makes a special tool for the gland nuts on the struts?
What was the benefit to adding collinite to the wheel wells? Just curious
Probably for protection, so dirt will be easier to remove on maintenance washes.
I actually would use a sealant or coating over the collinite wax he used.
Wax tends to stay greasy which actually attracts dirt.
Also the reason why I never use wax on paintwork without adding a base coating first.
