through meditation and a mantra i learned to quiet my internal chatter. once my mind is quiet i sometimes hear ideas that are foreign to me. like a thought i am not educated enough to have or a thought that i can understand but do not have the life experience to fully grasp. the thought is expressed in a voice other than my own. Most of the time a loud booming voice will say YES or NO at the beginning and if the voice says NO then nothing will happen and i will just experience quiet of a while and come out of the meditation.
