      It actually failed horribly when put to grueling tests by another CZcams'er that did actual measured data testing. It's more like a bottom-of-the-barrel welder that's been hyped up. The video is on youtube by bigtb1717

    Angle Iron is alway nice for this type of location. Negates the need for gussets. Neat little all in one welder👍🏻

    nice job mike, you look comfortable welding, that seam you showed on close up looks very good, no undercut, you must have experience welding.

      Good advice. A welding flash is so painful. Make a couple of welding screens to protect anyone who may be around you while welding.

  • @randyfredricksen5963
    @randyfredricksen5963 Před 3 lety +1

    Nice vertical beads...looks like you could just shroud the top half of the brackets with some flat iron from one end to the other and follow the angle down until your ramp butts up against it at the angle you want. That would also give a final step on to the trailer instead of driving over the pins at the end. Nice work and love that welder/cutter.

  • @fisherus
    @fisherus Před 3 lety +1

    That looks great you guys. I have a similar welder/plasma cutter I bought from Amazon called a Primeweld CT 520d that is almost identical to the YES welder you are using. I have cut 1/2" steel (a bit of a struggle with it and probably the maximum thickness I would try) with it. Mine is a 120V-220V as well. Mike, next time start by making smaller welds come in from where you have tack welded to eliminate the warping of your material. I know it slows down a bit but, the end result is a straight weld. I think that your welds look terrific!

    If you want the ramps to stand up straight, weld pins on the side of the trailer and ramps.
    Then cut straps out of 1/2-3/4 metal to hold ramps up straight using locking pins to hold straps on to ramps. Hope that helps.

    Nice project. Hopefully the slight height difference between the top of each ramp to the top of the trailer deck won't be much of a hindrance to loading wheeled things.

  • @morgansword
    @morgansword Před 3 lety

    I have heard some really good things about this welder as it does the hard part of figuring out what settings to use. I am glad that your picked as one of the people for reviewing this welder. That is no toy, its serious business and does as good a job as the other brands... on a tottle different , you all need rain in the worst way so start stepping on spiders, painting outside, leaving the tool box open outside, what ever it takes to get some serious rain. There is going to be some serious timber sales after this is over if there are anyone left to do some logging. No more poison ivy or other narly weeds but its nice to still have a neighbor when it does quit. With this welder you should build yourself a welder. Nice ramps for the trailer but way overkill. I would take a drive to different trailer sales places and see what other trailers offer. I sure hope you guys miss this burn for sure kids

    My man here likes to weld in sandals. Lmao. Machine sounds good, nice spray on the plasma, and the welds have a decent crackle. Could have turned your heat up, or wire down little. Nice try with the stinger...

      @John-fj3qw Před 3 lety

      Photokeratitis is the medical term for a flash, I have had it about a dozen times duringy working life. Always extremely painful, feels like you have a bucket of sand in your eyes and they burn so bad. Certainly would be very unpleasant for a dog. Always think of others and keep them all safe.

    A word of caution there kids.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE build a welding shed!
    If that sawdust on the floor catches fire, your building will burn to the ground in a heartbeat!
    All it takes is a spark to roll behind something, and its ALL gone in minutes. PLEASE use better judgement with your plasma cutter and welding.

  • @thelibertyworkshop2952

    The support legs on the ramps should be much shorter because when the equipment is driven up the ramp the weight will bring the rear of the trailer down ... Having them long like that will just make using the ramps a hassle ...

    I bought the 205 ds in January I hate mig welding but it’s useful for just get it done projects but the auto settings on these machines are a bit annoying you could do better just adjusting the dial over all they are fine for the price I usually just use the hf tig on mine. I am an aerospace and military sub contractor I will tell you if you want to do any type of production runs these machines won’t cut it. It really only gets a pass because it’s soooo damn cheap but honestly IF you are buying this for tig save your money and get an alpha tig a primeweld or an everlast.
