@mcSHTT I believe from watching the video the Korean Judoka was using the outside boundary to impede Saito's progresss and hinder the whole competition. In the end the Korean for some reason was un-happy so the ref, with Saito's complaints gave him the match.

Cho got called for a false attack which he disagreed with and then refused to fight in the last few seconds and took another penalty walking out of bounds giving Saito the match.

Damn ... Saito San is faaaat! 150kgs at his heaviest! THATS INCREDIBLE for such a small man (in height).

No, he got a shido for a fake attack, it was his 3rd fake attack on the match, it was well deserved... In the heat of the moment we sometimes don't realize the things we do.. He certainly thought better after watching the video tape of this fight. It was a great show of lack of sportsmanship!

That was the first time I saw Saito San fighting timid! It could be because no gold medals for the Japanese that year (beside Saito's) or it could be because Cho broke Saito's arm in the 1985 worlds. That was a shame how Saito won but only Saito back then could pull off something like that. You never see a Japanese gesturing to the ref like he did now it's a common thing with the Japanese team especially after Saito became the head coach.
