iI was with the 242 ASH at Cu Chi, As CH47 FE The replacement unit was the 90thj Replacement Bat and it was at Long Binh and was a bout 10 miles south of Bien Hoa and about 15 miles north of Cu Chi The attack you were talking about at the 242nd happened at about 0200 hrs, We had 12 total Chinooks 9 were totally destroyed. Two of our chinooks that were not damaged were in Maintainance revetments. Myself and two other men shot one of the sappers that cam through the wire. The report you have was probably written by Capt Gary Rousch.

Smart man. Parlayed education into staying out of the field.
God bless your awareness. And thank you for your dedication to your craft.
    You saved some American souls.
DaNang/Hue 1971. A perimeter guard but somebody had to do it.
I also did inner security on those valuable OV-10s and F-4s on alert.

Excellent interview...It`s so interesting--my Great(x3)Grandfather,Charles Leroy Babson, lost his leg at the Battle of Fredericksburg, for the beloved Company K of the 16th Maine, and developed gangrene during his trip to hospital in Rhode Island, which became so bad that they thought he had died, when his nurse, whom he had befriended during his stay, noticed one of his fingers moving and they brought him back to life;meanwhile, word(and a message to his family up here in Brooklin,Maine)had gotten out that he had died and for his family to come and claim his body,so his brother was sent down and upon his arrival, was completely astonished when coming to the realization that he was still alive-unfortunately,on his way down, the brother,William, had contracted pneumonia and subsequently died from the illness by the time they arrived home......History`s an exciting and sometimes a wondrous thing..........again,thanx for the interview...
