- L. Ron Hubbard was an American author, philosopher, and founder of the Church of Scientology. He was born on March 13, 1911, in Tilden, Nebraska, and passed away on January 24, 1986. Part one of this three video series look at the roots of L Ron, how he started, his naval career, his initiation into the occult, and all the wonderful mistakes he made along the way.

He famously made the statement....."No one can get rich writing sci/fy.....IF you want to make some REAL money, start a religion....and then proceeded to do just that!
