Positive talks are ongoing between Manchester United and PSG over the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
A broad agreement on many aspects of a deal is now understood to be close.
While both clubs want to do a permanent deal, a loan with an obligation to buy is still a possibility.
There was a big gap in valuation earlier in the window but both clubs have found room to compromise on the price. Ugarte has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.
However, a potential deal remains difficult without further sales at United, which means any move is likely to go into the final week of the window. United are creating further squad space with a couple of potential exits in Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos and Hannibal Mejbri to Burnley.
As it stands, Scott McTominay will remain at Old Trafford so United may have to be creative when it comes to further incoming. If there are departures, it would help United complete a permanent deal for Ugarte. If not, a loan with an obligation to buy cannot be ruled out. Manchester United are aware Ugarte is desperate to join and that PSG want to do a deal.
