I wish Jo and the parents would have pointed out to the little super hero that the superheros he sees on TV aren't real life. That there are real life hero's who might be able to help his sister or others like his sister in the future, and that he could be one of those. He could be a doctor, nurse, scientist, researcher... So many other real hero's that he can strive to be.
Yeah, it could give him a new goal and encourage schoolwork
I think he's a bit young for that. Kids that age are still into Santa and have imaginary friends and stuff. They can't really tell reality from fantasy at that age. Let's not shatter children's illusions. He will learn soon enough as he develops cognitively.

I’m sorry. The fact that there’s a little boy who dresses like a super hero because he thinks he’ll be able to heal his sister with his powers one day is too much for my 3am heart to handle
Why? If anything this behaviour became destructive and completely the opposite of adorable. And the parents just stood by and let it happen rather than growing a pair and tackling the problem.

When George came out without his costume I had a smile as big as his and my eyes were filled with tears.
I really relate to the mom who is heartbroken to admit she sometimes " hates" her child. I'm the parent of a very difficult child and I have felt so guilty for hating my child's behaviors so much that I didn't like them. It's somewhat comforting to know that it's probably more common than I realized and that my guilt is only making it worse.

Been there, the mom guilt is overwhelming. It got better. Had to use restraint training, but we got there.
I think what you’re feeling is both normal and probably far more common than you’d think. Problem is that like you, many people don’t want to actually publicly admit it. If they did then this would be far less a problem.
Kids don’t get this way without a lot of enabling by parents afraid to set rules and boundaries early on.

I know he’s just a kid but how can he see his mom crying and so distraught and not care and even act up more? I remember making my dad cry when I was like 5 after I had left a popsicle on his work files and ruining them. That was the first and I think only time I’ve seen him cry. I think he was just really stressed out. Anyway, it made me feel really bad and guilty and I never wanted it to happen again
George wanting to help his little sister Maddy is adorable and so relatable. I'd want to become a superhero too. I wish I could come visit and give Maddy a hug. The way her mom is so patient and loving and kind is so perfect.
Jack needs to show respect to his mother and younger-sister!
George is worried about his sister and that is why he uses the costume. It’s a way to isolate himself from what’s really happening at home. That just broke my heart to see.
Something's changed in 7 decades. I'm 70 years old and if I'd bit, hit, punched or kicked my mother, I probably wouldn't have made it to 7 !!! Many of the parents of children in the 50's had served in WWII. Their experiences in the forces taught them how to give instructions and provide consequences for unacceptable behaviour. Consequences are what the boy who punched his mother desperately needed.
George needs to be told the super hero is a doctor & it will take him being the super hero student to help his sister

That first kid is screaming for male interaction, rough housing. Put him in sports, he'll get that structure guidance and positive reinforcement from a man that little boys need so bad. Sports are so important, it gets out energy and really gives kids that bit if time from a male role model
And when Jack turns 17, his mother will be visiting him in jail, if she hasn't been able to manage him.

Because a lot of dads step out of the picture leaving single moms to raise the kids. I have seen plenty of these though where both parents are involved.

There is thousands of mothers that deal with angry spoiled children, that makes you feel so angry, you come close to hating them in the moment. You have to stick to your guns and give them no choice to do what they are told or it is discipline consequences for them. Takes time but you will come out on top!
Spoiling doesn't exist. A lot of these kids show clear signs of things like ADHD manifesting as extreme anger ect
@@emersonhawks spoiling definitely does exist! But the issue is more that there's no boundaries or set consequences for bad behavior. If you use behavioral modification techniques and they work, then the problem is solved. If none of that works then you have to look at other medical issues that could be occurring.
Misbehaving kids will sometimes call Child Protective Services simply because they don’t want to do what the normal, non abusive parents ask them to or not getting their own way..it happens..
It does but a well-trained CPS worker can see through the BS. My mom was one my whole life.
How does a 6 year old know about CPS?
I was one of those kids that grew up online and had hardly any time spent being played with or taught how to ride a bike or play chess and at 22 im struggling daily with issues, unable to hold strong relationships and friendships and there really isnt many resources to help a young adult who was raised online and doesn't know how to interact with people >.
You are not alone sweet one. I see so much of this as a member of the BigSisters program. I would highly suggest going to a local soup kitchen or homeless community. The personal interaction there can help you get over those communication bumps. If that is too much for you, I suggest joining a bird watching group or find a hobby that includes being around small numbers of people.
It takes time but you can learn even later in life and carry on.
I find that’s the case for a lot of people your age. They’re all extremely socially awkward I believe from growing up online and having minimal real world interactions. I have many cousins from diff families that are under 20 and they’re so socially awkward that they can’t even say hi back to me whenever I say hi. They just awkwardly look away and stay silent. Another thing I noticed was most of them love anime too. I’m 29 so I grew up with internet too but my generation wasn’t constantly online 24/7 like todays youth. Actually 1 if my 5 siblings did grow up addicted to the comp and online games and he’s also socially awkward, never had a gf and he’s 40. So when I have kids I’m not going to let them grow up on the internet. Parents today don’t know the negative effects of doing that since all this was realized relatively recently but I’m hoping now that most of us know this now, we can prevent it from happening with our own children

My heart really felt for little George, wanting to use his super powers to save the world, but mostly he just wants to save his parents and sister! But George, having that big of a heart is what makes you the biggest super hero of all time❤️🩹♥️❤️🩹 it’s that kind of love that is the best weapon you’ll ever have in your arsenal!💖
man jacks mom is just ugh if she had kept him from going out and playing all day the next day, that would have been the turning point needed. but no she gave in

Jack’s mother needed to change her mindset. You need to believe it in your mind that you are in control and that there are strong boundaries and expectations that can NOT be crossed and behaviours that won’t be tolerated (like aggression, disrespect, violence). While I know that things are easier said than done a lot of what Jo does is make parents aware of their OWN behaviour. Jack’s mother communicated in such a wish washy way that poor Jack is confused about where the real boundaries and expectations were.
I hope they are doing better. I really do...

my brother was like this, we hated him so much growing up as siblings, we still do. made our lives miserable. moved in with grandpa, ma died of an heartattack because of him. grandpa turn off the power to the home when he acted up. kitchen and his room was locked up like fortknoxx LOL then he cant play tv or games nothing. not even warm water lol,. then when he acts right its turn on, after 2 days good behavior. he learned fast. wish grandpa stepped in sooner. but i bet ma would be still alive if was not for him still 45 years later we all still think this why we dislike him.

This is one thing I will never agree with Jo on 39:40. She really needs to understand what Trichotillomania is so she can explain it to these parents the correct way! They aren't just pulling their hair out just because... some people are so ashamed of this because they can make huge bald spots and some kids eat the hair and has to have surgery. So does she believe a kid goes through multiple painful surgeries just because they want to?
Then grow up and put your child in his place and you need to follow through like an adult and grow up

Something George’s parents could’ve used was explaining to him that superhero’s don’t walk around in their outfits 24/7, they hide that identity, during the day they’re just normal people & do what they have to do, worked like a charm with my nephew!

love the way the dinner time changes took place, we was a fork and knife family, table only eating and loved it, why friend asked him why it was a must. she asked her what color was your mas and eyes was. We was both 26 years old. she could not answer it. give it a try ask your child where cant cheat looking at a pic or your. Ask others... you will be surprise they cant answer it right.

Only once happened to me that my son (4) behaved so violent to me as this Jack boy does to his mother. I told my son that I was going to call the Child Service and he was going to send to a foster family. He won't be loved anymore, only ignored. He did become so scared he has never ever done that again.
So sad. Now he's always afraid of loosing mummys love, when something bad happens 😞
@@xShirubiax No he is not. He knows exactly that when something bad would happen we are there for him. But he also knows that there are sort of behaviors that are not accepable and have consequencies.

WOw --- if any of us had ever tried to hit our mother, she would have responded by pounding our butts soundly. Sorry but I do believe in a smack in the right time. (NOT abuse). The one child is 6 years old and is being violent because he has been allowed to act this way. Parents need to assert themselves as the boss very early. Just dismayed at this behavior ~

Yes, I agree! It's called trichotillomania and is a compulsion disorder, affecting adults as well as children. I suffered from this as a kid. It's not done to manipulate anyone. It's like OCD and sometimes requires medication and/or therapy. It's a way to relieve anxiety. If your child has this, please don't look at it as a behavioral issue, but take your child to a pediatrician or therapist. They are a lot of treatments available these days.

That kid is only six and in a couple years will be bigger than her. Then imagine how the violence is going to be. Being violent is not the response to a violent child. This is the worst advice a parent could take. It's also called abuse.

Yeah. I like superheroes, too. But I don’t let it effect my life. I’m a college (university) student who’s passing all but two of my classes.
(I’m failing two of them bc I have to deal with a mentally unstable father, and I can’t find a quiet place to study. That’s a story for another time, though.)

I know this sounds harsh, but wait till he is asleep and remove his costumes, then when he wakes sit him down and explain that it’s time for him to wear regular clothes.
The parents bought the costumes, it’s reasonable to remove them.
After watching so many of these videos it's clear these parent's need parenting classes. They worry that there are better parent's out there, well it's true there are way better parent's out there. Clearly better than anyone on these video's. It's pretty obvious jo has to tell them to spend quality time with them. That's a no Brainer yet they couldn't figure that out. Most of these kid's eat terrible and spend a lot of time alone drifting thru. Its a shame, but now I realize why this world is trashed because these type of parent's were raised by the same type they are. No accountability
