- Boca Raton is commonly referred to as being the "Rat's Mouth". This is in reference to early maps which showed hidden rocks and were hazardous to ships. In reality, Boca Raton is a gorgeous city in Palm Beach, Florida. Addison Mizner developed most of the city, and features a lot of Spanish architecture, pink coloring, and a relaxed atmosphere. It is home to Mizner Park and Royal Palm Place - two outdoor shopping malls with plenty of style.

In the Spanish language there is also the differentiation between "Rat" (rata) and "Mouse" (ratón). So the closest translation would be "mouth mouse", in singular, because "ratón" is singular (the plural is "ratones").
Also, for a more faithful translation, it should be "Mouth Mouse" instead of "mouse's mouth", because the latter in Spanish would be "la boca del ratón" and it is not like that, but "Boca Ratón" (Mouth Mouse, in the same order) since it is a compund noun designating the name of a place, not a simple phrase. Sorry everyone for the bummer 😂

Thank you, this is a beautiful city. In the mid-1990s we visited family in northern Florida and the name Boca Raton caught my attention. When we returned home after the 2nd trip I looked it up on the (new to me) internet and saw some pretty pictures of a marina and of the ocean but this was so much more comprehensive. Even now I'd like to live in Boca Raton even with the translation of the name. 😂

As for you said the restaurant that is now a bar and wedding venue. The Addison. That was the original home and office of Addison Mizner. Across the street from there where they are building that building was the original train station that brought people down. There is also a neighborhood a little west on Palmetto Park Road called Old Floresta. He designed and built many of the homes in that neighborhood.

Every single one of the properties you passed look like they are part of a super extended Billionaires' Row. It is interesting to see how buildings in Florida look so different from other parts of the USA. They don't seem to be made of brick, unless the brick is covered in white cladding or something. The area is a paradise. Wow. What a place.

Just some notes about Boca. The City Hall you went into is the City Hall complex which is going to possibly be demolished for a new city center. The Mizner built town hall that you are referring to is historic site built-in the 1920s. it is called Town hall and the Boca Raton historic museum is located inside. there are other notable historic features in Boca including the old train station, his old house which is on Camino Real, the Boca Raton resort. Also the Royal Palm Plaza which was also designed by him

The corporate office for Office Depot is not what you noted on Glades Road - that's just a store. The headquarters is on Military Trail, a little further northwest. Office Depot just announced a sale leaseback on that property as well. Mizner Park and Royal Palm were built around the 80s - long after Addison was dead. They were built in his style. The Addison Restaurant you noted at S. Dixie and Camino Real is in one of his original buildings.

By the way, you're turning signal is quite loud and disrupts the flow of the tour. You don't need to turn on your signal from a turning lane. Everyone knows you're turning. It gets old after a while. One other historical fact. The Camino Gardens neighborhood you drove through is known for their white roofs. Also when you first came into the neighborhood on the left where that red bridge was that was an old zoo built in the 1900s a thing called Africa USA.
Very nice, never knew there used to be a zoo there at the Camino Gardens.
Also you just passed by the downtown library where the new Brightline station is going to be built. Actually it’s under construction to be completed around November

@@LilacPeach71 Plenty of places around the world just as hot, with a vibrant and bustling street life. There's something else going on here. Boring motoring, urban sprawl, and complete atomization and alienation of people.
I have lived in Sarasota, Venice, west palm beach, deerfield, Boynton, and Palm bay/Melbourne visited many other. Guess what Florida is all the same. I like it but there is nothing special about any of these zip codes. Just more concrete and trees if you ask me. I quit being awed by big fancy houses years ago.
