I do love the look of this model. I was looking for a budget guitar to mod. I had a humbucker and 500k pots already. I looked around, and looked at the GIO models.
I found, ended up buying an 'Artist' EB2 electric guitar for A$160 (US$105), the electronics, pick-up was cheap rubbish, but the Guitar body, neck, fit and finish was Amazing.
I purchased a graphite nut, roller string trees, locking nuts and a new 'Wilkinson' bridge on sale, total coat A$70 (US$46). I had a Humbucker and the 500k pots already.
Out of the box, even with the cheap parts, it sounded OK, and played great. After the Mod, It sounds Amazing and plays Great, I Love playing it.
Total cost A$230 (US$152) and a few hours of work...
Because people, like you, do Great videos like this, people like me, on a budget, can find a great guitar platform (new or used) and build the guitar you will Love playing for less than you'd expect. I didn't have the confidence to do the mods I did before watching channels like this, learning the skills needed. Thanks for doing Videos like this.

As someone that just bought an GRGR120EX with the intention of modding it a ton I love this video. I've bought everything I can replace except the bridge. I don't ever use the trem arm so I'm not worried about it. My parts just started arriving today and I'm so excited for it all to get here so I can take it to my local shop. 🍻🍻🍻🤘🤘🤘💚

I'm going to have to replace the bridge on mine because I can't find 'spare' saddles for that bridge. They're unusual in that they have no vertical adjustment and the bridge plate is structured so that regular saddles can't be fitted. This means pulling out the original posts, filling the wood and re-positioning a new bridge and making new post holes. I think it will be worth it as the neck is pretty decent on these guitars.

@SamDeeksRelovedGuitars T102 bridge? If so, the graphtech PS-8000-00 with center intonation screw. Its 2 - 1/16" spacing. I asked graphtech directly in an e mail and that's what they told me to get. 🍻

    Nice project.
I have a (suspected knockoff) Jem Jr project that I need to finish.
I've been trying to perfect a hydrodipped swirl, as well as collecting parts as the Floyd copy is trash, as well as the pickups being really rusty, the pickguard is cracked and I may as well replace all the electronics.
Also one of the trem posts has cracked into the bridge pickup cavity, so that needs reinforcing.
Still deciding if I'll do the tiger claw carving behind the trem cavity or not.
A lot of work, but I'm doing it for fun and learning.

The ibanez T1502 bridge from a different model is a direct drop in replacement. Its made by gotoh and a little nicer then the stock T102

That's useful info - now if only I could find that bridge you mentioned at a sane price! In fact, I just need some replacement saddles for the original. Got some to sell me? :D

I got an extra set of the PS-8000-00 1 Set was the electric grounded ones and I used the regular normal ones for my GIO build. Pretty sure it was labeled PS-8000-00E?

@@BIGFESH Those are the GraphTech 'String saver' saddles right? I've got a set of those on my partscaster Strat...
Are you saying that you removed the flat-bottomed, fixed-height Gio saddles and replaced them with the stringsaver ones? And the grub screws on those, did they work OK with the big 'string-thru' slots on the base plate? IIRC when I considered putting replacement saddles on the Gio bridge, something about those slots prevented a regular saddle fitting on there.. .Or am I imagining it?

What a great find! That guitar has potential, I am glad it was rescued and delivered to you. What are your thoughts on getting the body dipped, with those swirl effects? That should help hide what filling the dents need.
Do you wind pickups? May be a rewind of the humbuckers to give them 4 connection wires could open a few new wiring options. :)

Not unless I can't find a replacement bridge or saddles for it.. then it might get detonated!
