  • More than a dozen countries have suspended aid to UNRWA, a U.N. humanitarian agency that helps Palestinian refugees, following allegations that 12 of its staffers were involved in Hamas' Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel. CBS News' Lilia Luciano looks into what the agency does and some of the controversies it has faced.

The UN's leaders prefer to maintain the Palestinians' refugees status because they get tons of money and power in behalf of the "Palestinian cause".
The UN have 2 refugees agencies - UNHCR for around 100mil refugees around the world, and UNRWA only for the Palestinians.
It's just absurd that the Palestinians still see themselves as refugees for 75 years.
They could already have their own country but their leaders have refused any attempt for peace during the history (including the Oslo and Camp David talks in the 90s and 00s) and have never offered an alternative.
Their "refugees camps" are actually proper cities.
Their leaders are corrupted, they prefer to get the money coming from donations, keep the people poor, and always blame Israel for all their problem.
They teach their ppl about war and revenge (over events from the last century in which both sides weren't flawless) instead of peace and compromise.
They never really try to SOLVE the problem but they rather USE the problem for their own good........

In 1958, Ralph Galloway, a former director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), discussing regimes’ treatment of Palestinian Arab refugees from Israel’s 1948-1949 War of Independence, said:
“The Arab states do not want to solve the refugee problem. They want to keep it as an open sore, as an affront to the United Nations and as a weapon against Israel. They don’t give a damn whether the refugees [numbering approximately 500,00 - 600,00] live or die.”
It is notable that the number of Palestinian refugees started at around half a million and is about 5 million today. How do you grow refugees generation after generation? Like @CivilationInNation said, it's about the money (over a billion per year). UNRWA established camps instead of promoting resettlement in Arab states. UNRWA is by far the biggest employer of Palestinians. That is like having a free cash program run by the very people signed up to receive the free cash. Lots of twisted incentives at play.
We hear the news about the dozen UNRWA employees who actively participated in the atrocities on Oct 7, but an enormous number supported the attack in other ways or had family members who were directly involved. The rot inside this organization runs deep. The U.S. should not be spending hundreds of millions of dollars on this every year. Imagine how far that money would go for our own homeless citizens or to help with the drug crisis. We should not be enabling terrorists.

Alleged by Israel who is being taken to court for genocide. Crazy they released this on the same day as the preliminary ruling. Also the ‘confessions’ were given under interrogation. Israel has been accused of using torture to extract confessions. I’ll wait for a formal independent investigation and not just one country who has consistently lied about its atrocities.

The honorable Christian charity that helped my family had an uncompromising policy of NEVER providing resources to groups or agencies that promote Hate and Terrorism. 100% of the charitable aid was focused on Humanitarian efforts ... How can Israel sustain its unity after October 7? Since the October 7 attack, we are not expressing hatred toward each other because our pain is much greater. But we are not far from how things were before October 7. We could return to that previous state in a matter of days.
It is also important to note that our divisiveness throughout the year weakened us and strengthened those who wished to attack us. A captured Hamas terrorist who participated in the October 7 attacks stated how the ongoing protests and demonstrations in Israel encouraged Hamas during their preparations for the attack.
When outside influences that pressure the formation of our unity move away, internal feelings of hatred resurface. We might believe that coming closer during tough times lets us develop while maintaining that closeness. However, this idea is incorrect.
We need to undergo a reset and rebuild our unity from scratch, without external pressure dictating our actions but out of our own choice to live in a common connection to each other, with a spirit of unity, support, care, encouragement and closeness dwelling in our relations.
When we are in a conflict of opinions, we need to equally respect those who we are against, acknowledging that they might also be right and have their own opinions, and that their opinions represent other people and citizens. Thus, we indeed should take heed to treat each other with more kindness.
Unity means that we are ready to set aside our own opinions in order to unite with others.

'UNRWA worker kidnapped my son': Mother of Gaza hostage pleads to UN (Jerusalem Post)
A video of an Israeli who was killed by Gazan terrorists on October 7th depicts a UNRWA worker kidnapping his corpse and bringing it into Gaza.
"A UNRWA worker kidnapped my son's body. How can a social worker for an organization that claims to promote good in this world do something so cruel and inhumane? How can the UN pay this man who dragged my son’s limp body on the ground, and then picked him as if he was a trophy back to Gaza?" (Ayelet) Samerano pleaded.
