I FEEL EMOTIONAL RIGHT NOW SERIOUSLY! I was only a boy at the age of 9 when i first saw that commercial back in 1988 and I feel exactly the same inside me right now, after 23 years! This is not just a commercial but a piece of art! Proud to be part French!
Unbelievable good ad. A time travel to the good old times. The Fahrenheit of 1988 smelled different from the new formular nowadays. It was way stronger.
Hello. Yes, you're totally right ! This excerpt is taken from "As falls Wichita, so falls Wichita Falls" (1981) by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. This is the second part of the first track of the album, "As falls Wichita, so falls Wichita falls" (20'45). "Goin' ahead" is another song, often played on stage with "As falls..." as a medley (see following album "Travels" (1981) > Track 8).
Excellent concept and one the few times (in my opinion), that the advertisers smelled the perfume and immidiately understood what the perfumers wanted to say. Comparing this ad to other fragrance ads from those years, the distance between them can only be counted in light years... Those guys, director etc made a cinematic excellent fragrance....according to the liquid one. I don't wear Fahrenheit, I like it and had it years ago, but I believe that this commercial gem stands alone in a dark sky full of goofy commercials even if the fragrances that they represented were (and are) excellent too. Now, the answer to the question ' what do they want to say?' with this strange ad, well that's another story (in my opinion always)
WOW! I dont usually comment but this is the best commercial ever and one that I coudnt find on the inet much as I tried. It really takes me back. Thank you!
That music excites me every time I hear it. And I can not help thinking quickly fragrance Fahrenheit ... Unique and unrepeatable... as a woman I think it's one of the best perfumes man I've ever felt in my life!!!
Ever since I was a kid this has thrilled and chilled me; and I finally bought the perfume a couple years ago as it is truly what is expressed here. Best ad ever indeed, that's what I've always thought and I couldn't find this on CZcams until recently, thanks a lot for the upload.
Thanks Elixear. I found it after a while looking on the net! It was difficult because this is an extended version of "As falls Wichita, so falls Wichita Falls" which was not on the standard album. As you stated the length is 20.45 and the passage in question start a 14.10... beautiful and eerie... a vision of the desert.. of the infinite space :-)
@clavicogyre yeah, you probably listened to the live version from the travels album, and thats the reason why you didnt hear the theme from the spot - check out the studio version from the album "as falls wichita..." there youll find it, i think from minute 17 or so onwards
Cannot agree more, today's Fahrenheit feel very chemical and synthetic, there's no feel of real essential oils, just some chemical stuff, that closely reminds old fragrance.
According to Pat himself, it seems to be a private joke, kind of, between Pat and Nana Vasconcelos. These numbers are a part of the phone number of Nana, by the time. ^^
@ n0username that's the beauty of this advert :) nothing is what it's look like - like fahrenheit perfume. i still don't know what to think about this scent. one day i don't like it -it's boring for me. another days i really enjoy this scent. it's woody, leather with note of motor oil (strong note of lavender). that's the beauty of the art (music, paints, perfume or good advert) it makes you think about it :)
This is an excerpt of "As Falls Wichita, so Falls Wichita Falls" by Pat Metheny. The numbers "55" and "3" correspond to the seconds in the digital track (and in the full version, you would hear "38" and "42" before).

My favourite ad of all time too. It was and still is a masterpiece.
Crazy to watch an ad on CZcams ! Who would have thought???

This is an amazing Ad, one of the best fragrances i had smelled...
Фаренгейт - моя первая любовь в мире мужской парфюмерии. Навсегда!
No matter if you like the smell of fahrenheit or not, the spot can stand as a piece of modern art, itself.
The best advert ever! Merci beaucoup!
Thanx a lot!
Thanks, very good!

"As Wichita falls, so falls Wichita falls" by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. ECM records. You're welcome... :-) It's a 20 min long track, min 14:56.
