Another great guide. Watched all your guides to see how others try different things then I do. Been playing this game since release day and always come back to it as one of my favourites. Thanks for making the guides. Look forward to a Shale guide as my team usually is Shale, Dog, my warden, and either Morrigan or Wynne.

Thank you! I've also been playing for a long time since 2010 and I keep coming back to it since it's my all-time favorite! The next companion build is going to be Wynne, and I'll be making the Shale guide after that.

Just stumbled upon your guides during my current DAO playthrough.
What amazing guides you have - almost perfect for my taste!
Calm voice, no focus on minmaxing, consideration for flexibility, a hint of roleplay style and most of all very understandable.
Thank you for your great guides :)

@@TheBlaiit thank you so much! I'm very glad to hear it, that's exactly what I want my guides to be!

Love all your guides, especially that you mention early game substitutes as a lot of people don't do that in build guides for literally every rpg

There are some Crossbows that work just as well.
For 20 or lower Strength there's the Antique Warden Crossbow with +1 Damage and Rapid Aim from the Warden's Keep dlc.
For the minimum of 26 Strength there's the Precision-Geared Recurve with +1.5 armor penetration and +4 attack bought from Garim at Orzammar Commons or given by Ignacio during the Trial by Crows quest, and Sailor's Crossbow with its Rapid aim that can be bought from Lothering before the Darkspawn sack it
Nugbane and the Dwarven Defender are good, but they required console commands or mods to get

I tried crossbows and I found that while they were decent in the early game, they don't match up to the damage bows do because they don't have any attribute damage scaling. There are some mods out there, though, that fix this and add 50% STR and 50% DEX scaling to crossbows, but I haven't tried them out yet!

Hello, what mod do you use to make Leliana's armor look like this? Good video.

Thank you! I use Retcon Light Armor Texture Overhaul by hoarous. I only use the textures for leather, studded leather, and duster armor since I don't like the texture used for the Dalish armor. I believe Leliana's battledress of the provocateur uses the appearance of studded leather armor!

I'm confused. You said you build Leliana into a two-dagger wielder, yet your guide was all about following the archer/ utility path she was already on?
Also, reminder to everyone: 'Aim' doubles the bow crit chance you had WHEN YOU ACTIVATED IT! So, make sure it is as high as possible first. (Song of courage, etc.)
I DO like archery quite a bit. Even though it is more of a "novelty" to me. I've done some interesting bow builds (mostly inspired by A Kis Herceg).
And even tried (a few times) to do an all-archery focused PARTY! (for fun) Usually with the lone exception being Shale to help BUFF the archers.
While significantly more durable, I'd say Fighter archers are significantly less quality than Rogue ones.

I mentioned in my build that I don't usually like archery and I tend to use a respecialization mod to build Leliana into a dual wielder. But since not everyone uses mods, my recommended build for her is for Archery. Hope that clears things up!
Ooh, it's cool that you tried out various bow builds! I have to say that after looking at A Kis Herceg's archery builds myself, I don't mind archery so much anymore. I still prefer magic and melee combat just because I think it looks a lot cooler, but I've had no more issues with my archer characters.

@@btiermutineer Yep, that cleared things up just fine.
To be fair, you don't HAVE to "respec"/ use a Mod on Leliana. Like you said, you get her pretty early. So, you COULD just start building her towards a double dagger rogue from then on. (And just "eat the cost" of a handful of "wasted" bow talents. No biggie.)
Just like you could build Alistair to be a dual wielder, two hander or archer, and just "lose" the use of a few weapon & shield talents. (Obviously, using the Mod you suggested is better, but if not? It doesn't cost THAT much to not use it.)
The BIGGEST issue with my attempts at making "archer parties" is the complete lack of Magic on my team! If you love playing mages (like I do), you should check out A Kis Herceg's Blood Archer(? I THINK it is called). Basically, it is a bow wielding Arcane Archer! I think it is pretty cool & clever. (and it fixed the magic gap in my archer party) You MIGHT like it too.

Could you make a dual wield dagger guide for Leliana?

    • @btiermutineer
      @btiermutineer  Před 5 měsíci +1

I'm actually working on a guide for a rogue Warden which essentially combines the best of Leliana and Zevran together (Bard+Assassin dual wielder) so I highly recommend that build (once it's published) to use on Leliana as well if that's what you want to build her into.
