      What was the master class?
      Ride hard all day and grind everyone else to death? It's just the Sky train all over again.
      Now, Yates attack was good tactics...either get the others to chase an attack that kills them, or Yates is up the road to support Pogi when he attacks.
      Pretty standard stuff for that scenario though...

      @@dclark142002 Wow, what a lukewarm reply. I suppose if Jumbo & JV executed this, it would be a master class. UAE didn’t drill it & ride everybody off. They rode tempo & applied pace judiciously. Sending Yates exposed JV. Therefore, UAE forced JV to respond by himself. Unlike the previous stage where Pogacar attacked from too far out, he gained maximum time by maximizing his effort.

      @dclark142002 that sky train contributed to one of the most dominant eras in cycling. If it ain't broke dont fix it. UAE have the vastly superior team if it isolates JV then it's tactics worth persisting with.

    What I don’t understand is when Vingegaard beat Pogacar on the line everyone was saying how great Vinegaard was and how this was a huge turn in the TDF … started questioning Pogacar hugely on podcasts and the like. I’m new to cycling and couldn’t understand it as Pogi lost 1 second at best.
    Yet here we are a few days later and Pogacar has just blitzed a stage with Jonas nowhere near him …. Yet nowhere near the amount of questions hang over Jonas bearing in mind he’s far worse off for this situation.

    • @DetectiveTrupo203
      @DetectiveTrupo203 Před měsícem +18

      I think that speaks to the perception of each rider. Like they're not judged by the same criteria. People expect Tadej to dominate the race, so him losing a second means he's a washed up loser. When he wins by 30 seconds he gets no praise because that's what they expect him to do every stage. You see?

    • @american_psycho1147
      @american_psycho1147 Před měsícem +15

      People need something to talk about so they just make up stuff. Pogi loses a sprint by a milisecond? He's done, washed up, Tour is over. Pogi wins by 30 seconds and gains time? Ving had a bad day lmao

      JV was in a giant crash earlier this year which almost claimed his life. The fact hes even at this TdF is a minor miracle. The fact he is this close to the top of the TdF after almost dying is an even bigger miracle. As this is the case, the expected outcome was that Pogi would win. Along with the fact he is a better sprinter then JV, and had the advantage on the stage, the fact that he didnt win leads people to assume that JV is just that good, and is going to come back and win. The truth of the matter I think, is that we are watching one of the greatest pairs of GC riders ever, and we should truly appreciate just how good both of them are, because they are literally a cut above everyone else riding.

      Props where props is due Jonas has come here and delivered when he can but he just isn’t the best rider out there at the moment. Take nothing away from him but Pogi is just too consistent and too strong overall.

      Pogacar has shown repeatedly that he can always create a gap to Vingegaard on steep climbs, but Vingegaard will come back later and the two are quite even in overall perfomance. Pogacar's team strategy was built on this, they tired Vingegaard so he wouldn't come back early, and timed Yates's and Pogacar's attacks perfectly so the maximum amount of gap would coincide with the finish line.

    i wonder how yates feel when pogi attacked? was that part of their plan? i thought you dont attack when a teamate is up ahead, then again I thought Yates was supposed to work for Pogi so why did he attack?

      Apparently they'd discussed it + Yates being up there allows Pogi to take a tiny bit of rest and recovery on his wheel while having a gap to the others on GC before he then pushes on his own

      They put yates in front, so to speak, that he could slipstream pogi when he was attacking.
      So yates did everything he could for a few hundred meters, which allowed pogi to save himself just a little while Vingegaard was alone "in the wind".
      It was a great tactical plan, masterfully executed. Yates surely felt great about it.

      3 things. 1) Yates attack forced Visma to work (Mateo J) while Pogi rested in the wheels. 2) Then, as Yates bridged to Healy, Pogi attacked bridging to Yates. 3) It was only a short distance that Yates pulled for Pogi, but enough I'd say for a micro-break so Pogi could recover and launch again.

    horrible to watch. Even at the peak of the doping years it was impossible to double Giro TDF. He wins with 9mins advance the GIRO like he was cycling with juniors. Now he dominates the TDF with a huge margin. All his tean are ex Lampre…it is pathetic

    Covid is still a thing? Hilarious. I tried so hard to get it, but couldn't. Never got vaccinated. So weird.

      So far: Tom Pidcock, Juan Ayuso, Michael Morkov, Fabio Jacobsen, Pello Bilbao and Fred Wright have all had to leave the Tour after contracting Covid. Geraint Thomas is ill with Covid and lost 30 minutes yesterday. So weird that you can't see this.
