my opinion.... follow 50 30 20 rule. Keep accumulating some money for emergency fund, plan for term insurance, health insurance as per your budget from daily expenses. I was keeping 50% for expenses (including any amount that goes to rent, family, etc) 30% for investments. (mutual fund SIPs, no brainer) and 20% + (if something remains from above 50%) kept in liquid (saving account) which I would convert to FD after reaching 50K (or whatever number you are comfortable with) for emergency fund.
