  • Here’s a recipe of rich Indian dessert which you definitely got to try.
    It tastes divine and it’s a worth trying recipe. This can be made on any occasion and everyone can enjoy it together.
    Prep time :- 1 hour
    Cooking time :-30 mins
    Serves :- 5-6
    Cup measurements:- 1 cup=250 ml; ½ cup =125 ml; ¾ cup=190 ml
    INGREDIENTS:-
    1. Pineapple(grated) -4 ½ cups
    2. Almonds -(15-16)
    3. Cashews -(10-15)
    4. Milk -1 ½ tbsp
    5. Saffron/kesar-few strands OR Kesar yellow food color
    6. Clarified butter/Ghee- 2tbsps+ 4 tbsps
    7. Sugar 1 ½ cups
    8. Khoya 1 cup/ Condensed milk ½ cup
    9. Vanilla sponge cake-100 gms/ ¾ cup
    10. Tutty fruity(optional)
    TIPS :-
     If you are running short of time for the preparation you can follow these simple tricks:
    1)You can add saffron strands to the milk and microwave it for a min.
    2)You can even add kesar yellow food color instead of using saffron milk for a good, bright yellow color of the halwa.
    3)Another method of soaking almonds is to boil the almonds in water for about 5 mins and the peel comes off very easily.
    4)If you don’t have sponge cake that’s absolutely fine to skip this step.
     Always fry the dry fruits so that you get some crunch in the halwa.
     Never add dry fruits in hot halwa as they will not be crunchy enough. Add it once the halwa cools down.
     Never discard the juice of pineapple after grating it(to save the cooking time). The pineapple need to cook well in its juice for good taste.
     You can always adjust the amount of sugar acc to the sourness of pineapple. The pineapple which I used were a little sour, so I have used 1 ½ cups of sugar, but if you are using sweet pineapples reduce the amount of sugar.
