I love it when Tommy picks up his Tele.
Tommy is special with any guitar.. JD ummm lets get out of the box
Absolutely. I've seen comments saying "I didnt know Tommy could play electric guitar". That's like saying, "I didnt know Mark O'Connor could play violin". Gees
Absolutely.
לגמרי
I love Tommy, but on this one, Jerry Garcia he is not.
The world needs more JD SIMO and Tommy... They fit like two puzzle pieces on stage!!
This is how we knew Tommy in Australia - before his international success. He mostly played with Rock Bands.
The rare moments Tommy plays electric, cherish them!
Best cover of this song ever
Holy fuck simo on the slide is crazy. And tommy on that tele is just mean pickin.
That les paul sound is terrific
them damn PAFS are nutty good, that V he plays in this show is also insane
I really wish Tommy would play more Tele stuff. I mean, I absolutely love his acoustic stuff, but I his Tele stuff is just so wonderfully different.
+Jack Woods Jack, you are so right
This is how we knew him in Australia - before his international success. He mostly played with Rock Bands.
Love the way Tommy is never about flash and glitter - he always shows up in plain clothes with a very worn out guitar (acoustic or electric) and then promptly proceeds to bring the house down.
What a perfect comment
Road wear is the new bling in the guitar world, didn't you get the memo?
he scratches the paint off the acoustic on purpose to make a percussive sound like drum brushes, it's not about esthetics. but I agree, no exaggerated guitar faces, or posing "à la malmsteen": great humble dude, despite being among the greatest guitarists alive
It's in his playing, too. He always knows when less is more, when to let the other guitarist shine, and even when to just not play any fuckin notes at all for a sec at 6:55! He's obviously an immense talent, but he also has taste.
I wish there was a photo of him onstage with a giant Elton John cake-wig hat.
There is not one thing in this world I love more than music
JD Simo nailed that extended solo!
The bass man holds it perfectly
woooowwwwww
🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘heey from 🇺🇦
Never heard TE play electric. He's got game.
man this must've been an awesome night
Starting at 3:15, the ghost of Duane Allman kicks in!
I think more like Dickey Betts
I'll give you Dickey till about the 4:07 mark, then it's definitely some Duane.
I don't think anyone ever doubted Tommy could tear it up on the telly like that my word he can burn I wish he played a little bit more electric now...
Hidden gem this video..
Tommy is brilliant, as always :D
JD IS A BEAST ALSO
If Tommy would always play electric stuff, he would be the best Rockabilly guitar player ever!
A real piece of Rock n roll..............
Now that was fun!!!
Totally worth 5 to 7 hours a day playing for years. Reward!!!!
Why am i just seeing this now!?!
Tommy really should do electric more often. His acoustic is kick ass to 3rd but gosh damn that tele picking.... I really hated the look of the three pickups until I heard tommy start playing and thought to myself.... f ing a he sounds good.
Reminds me of that other classic tune "lick my love pump"
These 2 guys light this old Granny right up!!!!! Damn now thats some good music!!! LOVE
I was there. They covered ‘lick my love pump’ after this one. Great night.
Really fun watching these two trade licks!
Tommy’s energy is amazing. You can tell he still loves playing the guitar. Beautiful.
WOW! I thought Tommy was going to cut this guy JD SIMO, that I never heard of before. Not so!
Great Jam. SIMO is really good if he can keep up with Tommy.
ursafan40 he’s one of the better guitarist in Nashville
+Stephen Sollenberger In a town filled with extraordinary guitarists, that's saying something. My niece lives there. Loves music. She must be in heaven
this duo is untouchable. check-out "little help from my friends"...
Oh I have, and you are right!
Tommy's mojo sending this into the stratosphere _ what a show this must have been!
tommy is the best guitar player in the world.IMAO
It's a pity that Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) is so underrated and forgotten. He played in the same style as Tommy Emmanuel.
About this clip: why do you invite a guest and then not letting him/her play, just showing everybody how lacking your own playing is. That singer guy has very heavy fingers...
@@kjelleriksson5122 What exactly are you talking about? Good grief enjoy the music
wow.... let it shine indeed
Just Awesome
Hot damn! Ended up here, because I just saw Simo on Chicago's WGN afternoon news.

So good. Love it guys!
Glad to see this video getting this much recognition after just a single day!

Haven't seen Tommy play a tele since played with Dragon in the early 80's, soon after he stated his solo career. He looks like he's having fun !! cheers Tommy !!

These guys are having entirly too much fun. Wow, wow, and doubble wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never heard Tommy play electric. I thought he was a stone cold acoustic player, but not on this gig. Great playing fellas! Marc Trainor.
Good too see you on the old tele again!
when we talk like them, we are done - great!
SIMO just killing it!
WiZ111112 you can thank Tommy for that
@@musicisart2 I kinda doubt that. JD started playing guitar when he was 4 years old. The guy was playing gigs in Vegas when he was 15. In Nashville with the Don Kelley band at 17. Come on man. Tommy is the man but JD SIMO goes way back to when most kids were playing with gi joes and watching bugs bunny!! Lol
whoooooo!!!!! heck yes. RESPECT!!!!
They were in flames!!!
Spectacular
Saw Tommy here in Waco,Tx...AWESOME
JD Simo pays tribute to Duane Allman for sure...great take on this song

Really happy right now. This was great.
Jesus Christ! that feel and expression! I'll be watching this numerous times this month!
Still watching this? Haha
I always say that, always, the next Day or so it's something else 😁
This would be quite a band! So great.
The Rock'n'roll never die!! Unbelievable!!!
WOW!!!!!
Back in the early 60s, this tune was written by a guy named Joe Scott. At the time, it was a hit almost immediately for Bobby “Blue” Bland on the R&B charts. It was powerful enough that many white performers also recorded it. I hope that Joe got paid his royalties. This song, along with Little Latin Lupe Lu by Bill Medley (Righteous Brothers) and several others really drove the music business. 1000s of cover bands played these tunes every Saturday night all across the country. White kids ended up buying “race” records and history of rock was being written. What a time. 10 years later bands like the Grateful Dead used them to gas up their concerts. Real classic. Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels made a career of playing this stuff, and doing it very well (almost like they themselves were black). It’s not only interesting, but really good that J.D. and Tommy got together. Boogie-fied rock really isn’t Tommy’s bag. But he understands the music and it’s origin. This was actually interesting. J.D. ain’t been on this planet long enough to express understanding of it, but what a talent as well. He and his band play this as part of their set regularly. And for good reason.
Gold!!! Tommy needs to play more Electric!!!
This was terrific ......loved this! Great B Bland tune........band & lead vocals are unreal! Gotta play this again.......
Would love to hear more of Tommy on the electric. He's so adept on acoustic, playing electric is is easier.
