Yes, it was pretty much perfect sitcom writing. That minute or so of dialogue was a microcosm of what made The Office so great. Each actor perfectly inhabits their character (largely because they played a big role in creating them)
Except Pam. She tried to sound smart but also failed art school.
I watched it back just to see the debate again and really listened to what they said and you are so right

To be honest, I've done stuff on a PC all my life and yet I've never used Powerpoint. I can likely learn relatively quickly due to being very familiar with how programs generally set themselves, but still.

@Nikola Stanković yeah, this was when the show was at its peak. It’s a shame it didn’t stay this good, but I think they lost some of the chemistry and dynamics you see in this scene when they brought in new characters and the whole Sabre thing, and especially when Michael left

The whole debate is so epic that even Stanley contributed it. Here's the whole script:
Ryan: What I really want, honestly, Michael, is for you to know it so that you can communicate it to the people here, to your clients, to whomever.
Michael: Okay.
Ryan: What?
Michael: It's whoever, not whomever.
Ryan: No, it's whomever.
Michael: No. Whomever is never actually right.
Jim: Well, sometimes it's right.
Creed: Michael is right. It's a made-up word used to trick students.
Andy: No. Actually whomever is the formal version of the word.
Oscar: Obviously it's a real word, but I don't know when to use it correctly.
Michael: Not a native speaker.
Kevin: I know what's right, but I'm not gonna say because you're all jerks who didn't come see my band last night.
Ryan: Do you really know which one is correct?
Kevin: I don't know.
Pam: It's whom when it's the object of a sentence and who when it's the subject.
Phyllis: That sounds right.
Michael: Well, it sounds right, but is it?
Stanley: How did Ryan use it? As an object?
Ryan: As an object.
Kelly: Ryan used me as an object.
Stanley: Is he right about that?
Pam: How did he use it again?
Toby: It was Ryan wanted Michael, the subject, to explain the computer system, the object...
Michael: Thank you.
Toby: ...to whomever, meaning us, the indirect object, which is the correct usage of the word.
Michael: No one asked you anything, ever. So whomever's name is Toby, why don't you take a letter opener and stick it in your skull?
Ryan: Hey, this doesn't matter, and I don't even care. Michael, you quit the other job or you're fired here.
How can I not like this comment. This is dedication.

When nobody shows up to Pam’s art exhibit, everyone’s all “aw poor Pam, this meant a lot to her.” But nobody shows up for Kevin’s concerts after he invites them and it’s just played for laughs.
I legit felt bad for Kevin in this scene. It wasn't a laughing matter 😞 almost as sad as when he dropped the chili
Plus Kevin’s band is actually good. Unlike Pam’s boring art, “the prettiest art out of all the arts”
Nobody felt bad about not going to Pam’s show either
@@shelocsher2396 we the audience did. The documentary crew was biased, they showed up for Pam but not for Kevin because they decided only certain characters deserved to have their development focused on.
I think Oscar was the only person in the office who (occasionally) enjoyed Kevin's company. They bonded over their hate for Angela.

I like that Michael says thank you when he thinks Toby has his back and then goes way too far when he doesn’t. It shows that Michael doesn’t hate Toby personally, he hates what Toby represents. Were Toby to just be another salesman or accountant I’m sure Michael would just think he was a little dull.
I loved the look on everyone’s face when Kelly gave Darryl a big fat kiss especially Ryan and Pam
That "That's what she said" is one of the most subtle yet hilarious ones in the entire show. Took me a solid second to get it and Angela's face is holding back laughter. Pure gold.

I've always wondered if Ryan would've gone through with that threat, and fire an employee in upper-level management, who's been there for over 15 years just coz he didn't make a presentation and has a second job in his personal time
I don't think so, Ryan told Michael to prepare when he wasn't on the job, so I don't think he has to prepare anything. Ryan has no ability to dictate whether Michael works somewhere else, especially since the way it affected michaels primary job was with an assignment that Ryan told Michael to do off company time.

Michael is an outstanding salesman so that alone would protect him from being fired for stuff like this 😂😂😂 that's the genius of his character.
@@babblingalong7689 Actually managers and other high ranking employees tend to have clauses in their contracts that does prevent them having side jobs (either self employed or for another company) that compete with their job at the company. Pam (when she was a secretary) the normal warehouse guys, the accountants, and quality assurance people could probably have a second jobs; but salesmen, managers, HR personal, Pam (as office manager), and Daryl after he moves upstairs would probably be given a similar ultimatum if they were ever discovered to have secondary jobs that compete with their jobs at dunder-mifflon in anyway, and depending on the contract they might not be able to hold another job at all. Also Dunder-Mifflon would basically have to terminate ANY employee (even Michael) in this situation who didn't comply, because if they didn't and then later fired someone else for the same reason they could be sued for hundred of thousands of dollars, especially if the person fired was female, or a minority.

And I know that technically Ryan is his boss but I think here Michael rightfully doubts Ryan's ability to actually lead people instead of just bossing everyone around
