Bert was always thin and in good shape. Obviously helped him live a long, productive life. I remember him mostly as Gus in Leave It Beaver and in Jud in Andy Griffith.
Burt was a treasure. I remember these appearances with Johnny in real time - 1975 I was halfway thru high school and watched Johnny every night. So good to see these old clips. R.I.P. to everyone on that stage.
I was also in high school in 1975.I remember seeing him on The TS,but I can't remember if it was this episode. It's sad that all those people are not alive any more.
@@gideondingle9363 It was a great time to grow up, we had it good in ways other generations didn't. The 70's were the best years.
Burt Mustin was an amazing ,gifted and talented person . He was ever present on tv and movies when I was a kid . God bless
He was about 14 years older than I am now and I can't remember that many words to a song or sing with that gusto.
On the Brady Bunch he played Mr. Collins, the biographer whose father was shot by Jesse James.
That's right!
TnseWlms Good man!
"Jesse James KILLED my father."
I remember that!!
He sure was! (Is!) But to me he'll always be Kimba The Jungleman in the Monkees episode Monkees Marooned! (Sort of a cross between 'The Most Dangerous Game' & 'Treasure Island'!
WATCHING HIM HERE IT CERTAINLY SEEMS AS IF HE COULD HAVE EASILY LIVED TO BE 100, BUT PASSED AWAY JUST 2-3 YEARS LATER.
Wow, What an inspiration !! Young heart Young soul !! God bless Burt.
He sadly long gone but his talents will never be forgotten just missed
A great actor. Loved seeing him on leave it to beaver as beavers friend gus and brady bunch as the guy whos father was killed by jesse james. One of the best actors.
In one day, I watched an episode of Leave it to Beaver, Dragnet, Sanford & Son and All in the Family.
All those episodes had Burt in them.
That's a ton of TV watching, Jon..
Doris Day, heading towards 97 in April.
William Demarest, who played Uncle Charlie on My Three Sons, would have just turned 127 a day or so ago.
No disrespect intended, but Olivia de Havilland will be 103 if she lives till early July, Norman Lloyd (who played Dr. Auschlander on St. Elsewhere) was 104 last November 8, and Kirk Douglas was 102 last November 9.
@@TheBrooklynbodine No disrespect taken but Olivia, Norman and Kirk were not in this clip and so they didn't get a mention.
Sorry, I didn't watch the clip in its entirety, so now I know what you mean.
Gary Kerns Olivia made it to 103 😀
Wow ! Double Wow !! Triple Wow !!! What a great joy & delight to watch ! The late great Mr Mustin was a true national treasure ! THANKS so much for uploading for us to enjoy ! CHEERS !! :-)
I'll add a WOW to that list! WOW! This guy is amazing at 90 y.o !
@@hankaustin7091 You speak the truth, Kemo Sabe ! Hollywood needs more sex symbols like Burt !
What a sweet man he was always loved his sense of humor...RIP Burt!
Amen to that ! May he rest in eternal bliss... :-)
It doesn't seem like such an anomaly now, given that the likes of Kirk Douglas, Bob Hope, Tony Bennett and Doris Day all made it well past 90. But in Burt Mustin's prime, he was regarded as remarkable for longevity alone. It certainly didn't hurt that he was also one of the most gifted actors of all time, either. He is greatly, greatly missed.
Being British, I've never heard of this man before.
What a character, what a gentleman.
Also smartly dressed.
My mothers Dad looked exactly like Burt. We used to kid Grandpa about being on TV.
Very sharp witted and funny. 📺🎬📽️🎞️☺️😉
Remember Burt in "The Ghost And Mr. Chicken"? Loved when he handed Don Knotts the flashlight then shook his hand. Just musing.. God Bless you Mr. Mustin.
He is absolutely amazing, such a great man. I loved him lots.
Good lord. If I’m in half as good health and sound mind as he is at 90 I’ll be very happy.
Love Bert! Loved him in anything he did.
Wow I loved this guy on Andy. So funny. Hope if I make it to 90 I’m the same way.
Wow!, I have NEVER heard someone of that great age with such a strong excellent voice...he died a few years later...and such a Sharp mind...would that my mind would be so Sharp should I make it to 90...Wow
He makes 90 look good
I knew about Burt Mustin through an All in the Family episode which I recently saw, he was great there and a delight to hear in this Johnny Carson's show. Great TV times.
One of the greatest t.v. actors of all time he was marvelous !!!!!
This is Amazing, what a talent
Wow. Just wow. Burt. What a classic American character. He was on Bewitched. This town of Hollywood/Burbank was so small back then. I'm so proud to be a tiny part of this industry.
Gus, the fireman.
My favorite of his roles!
Sharp as a tack and an amazing storyteller. Love it!
Wow, what a clear, strong voice he had!!
Omg i grew up watching him..he was Adorable he was in a lot of different things ..so many . 🤩
Who’d ever think Burt would outlive Norm Macdonald
Doris Day has now lived longer than Burt Mustin did, as he lived to be 92 and she'll be 97 soon.
True. But now she's gone as well, sadly.
rip April 3, 1922 - May 13, 2019
Burt Mustin 1884 - 1977
True, but getting to 90 in the 1970s was somewhat like getting to 100 today
Burt was cool! I remember first seeing him on "Leave It To Beaver".
Wow if he was still alive today he would be 135 in 2019.

He played Goalie for Pennsylvania Military College; played goaltender for their ice hockey team in 1902.
For the longest time as a child, I thought his Paw was killed by Jessie James. That's how good an actor he was for me, totally believable.
I like how Doris Day greeted him, so sweetly
She was absolutely genuine in that way..
she lived to be 97.
Ill bet judd and johnny are havin fun now with rodney.thanks for the laughs guys♡♡♡♡♡
You forgot Carol and Ed.
