  • Come with us on a magical holiday! Getting our history geek fill, thanks to a wonderful trip put together by acclaimed Egyptologist ‪@CurtisRyanWoodside‬ ! We're spoiled to be on this trip, with our friends ‪@ChateauLove‬ and ‪@TheChateauDiaries‬, with Curtis' mother Cheryl, and Stephanie's mother Isabelle & Isabelle's husband, Percy!
We spent the first few days of this magical trip on land, at the Obelisk Hotel in Aswan, enjoying tours to the well-known Philae temple, and some lesser known sights on Elephantine & Kalabsha Islands.
Next time, you'll be able to join us on the best vintage tour boat, the Sai Safari, as we dive into some temples rescued by UNESCO, but rarely visited by tourists!
Please check out and enjoy ‪@CurtisRyanWoodside‬'s documentaries on Ancient Egypt - several of which are part of film festivals around the world!

Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

Morning Steve & Sara, what a privilege to be able to walk amongst a centauries old ruins of one of the world most wonderful civilisations. The Egyptians. The amazing story of Moses from the Book has always been fascinating for me from since my childhood. From the amazing day Moses was found in the bulrushes until the Day he led the Israelites out of bondage. To be able to see for yourself the stone carvings from their lives back then, my-my, a person can only stand in awe. It looks like a good and fun time has been had by all attending, there must also have been the most exotic array of jewellery, fabrics, rugs and spices to be bought. Steve you enjoying cooking, am sure to bring home a few of those special flavours home. I so love the one sail boats on the Nile they blend in perfectly with the History of Egypt. Don't forget to grab a few bags of dates, they are super delicious! Sara I hope you find a few more fabrics of your dreams that you can come home and stich up. Egyptian cotton is also beautiful to bring home for maybe a table cloth or runner or even linen for the beds. Enjoy, have a wonderful time, go well, take care. Kind regards.

The combination of senses (sights, sounds, smells) are really impactful in the market. They feel so different from home... what I didnt say in the video is how different the markets feel than 30 years ago - my first time through a souk, with tiny stalls, narrow twisty alleyways, all the things... quite an impact then too!

    What a trip!
Each of you have vloged different parts of the tours and like a jigsaw puzzle they fit together and provide the full picture.
My favourite thing of all is watching all others that vlog in their impromptu actions, where they have been captured just being natural and unscripted by other bloggers. It’s made me realise that you all are so genuine in your own vlogs, the real you is captured in your own vlogs. You all are so thoughtful of each other and such good friends with each other. Not too surprising as you all have a common back ground in that you all are renovating chateaux but this holiday has show me that your friendship now extend way beyond that shared commonality and true rounded friendships have evolved. It’s lovely to see such genuinely warm and caring friendships that have evolved between you all.
Very much looking forward to seeing more of this adventure of a life time.

Very nice video. Good camera work.
Note: in the last few years I’ve been noticing “Modal” on clothing tags for the types of fiber content. It basically means a mix of fibers…….the fabric itself feels nice and soft with a degree of body to it……that’s possibly what your material you found at the market was made from. He did not say it was a natural fiber but said it’s not polyester!😑
Modal fabrics… from my experience do not like high heat (tumble dry)or heavy wear.
You could take a few fibers from the fringe of the fabric and place them near a match to see if they melt…man made…..or if it becomes ash like natural fibers do. ❤

Hi Sarah and Steve. How wonderful of a journey you shared with all your friends. Beautiful editing and filming. Loved hearing Sarah describe the details of the ancients. The landscape was quite interesting and looked like another alien environment but that sunset was magnificent.
Thank you for sharing your journey.
Steve you looked great in the Egyptian garment and I have to admit I laughed with Sarah at your attention for the head scarf. Looking forward to part two😄

I love that you all went together. It actually reminded me of colonial days. Beautiful.

Yes, it definitely had a wonderful vintage feel - with the modern twist that we do try to be respectful of the culture tho!

@@ManorandMaker oh yes. No shade with the colonial comment at all. It's just what it reminded me of. I thought you were all fantastic.
