Hi I just wanted tell you how awesome you are by taking your valuable time to share with everyone your valuable skills. I've had the insatiable desire to create pryo devices since I was old enough to realize the concept. We lived in a safe and sane state, and every year I had modified every safe and sane device you can imagine. There wasn t any CZcams, or much information on the subject, so I learned via the hard way, not really the best hobby to learn by fire, but it's all I had. I found your videos and have found them really informative. I'm about retirement age now, and with this covid 19 business I'll probably call it good and retire now. I'll be resuming my first love and just wanted to say thank you, I had quit making them when kids were around, mine never were real safe, and I didn't know about any limits! My favorite was paper mache ball containing a half pound of Armstrong. When your a kid that sounds fun, now safety sounds a lot better when running sounds like a trip to the chiropractor. Also I drill and tap a hole in the end cap of my ball mill containers where I epoxy in a small one way check valve you can get for a couple bucks at the auto parts store, and put a heater next to the ball mill, I'm up here in the land of perpetual rain and 76% humidity, kclo4 and 3 make it about 3 min before it starts looking like they forgot to add anti cake to it. I have to dry everything, I know this video is more for drying stars, but in case anyone else live in high humidity might think about drying while milling, I've never had a problem with it, I only mill precursors individually, my mill is homemade, so I can change the takeoff and drive pully and mill jar so 10 rpm is a bit higher than recommended, but thats how I mix and dry bursting charge(you tube censors) with no lifters or milling medium. There's probably some regulation that says I'm nuts, but I don't know about it, and it's been my expience that while negligence is no excuse for the law, ignorance is good for at least a couple warning tickets.

It sure sounds like you are "one of us", Ken. Enjoy, and stay safe.

Ken, sounds like we're about the same age and I just revived an old hobby of fireworking because I couldn't really go anywhere because of this covid thing. I, too, modified many fireworks from "safe and sane" to class B. It's so much fun in the winter when the weather is cold and rainy (WA state) much of the time. Take care and stay safe!

The best fireworks shop I ever saw was a block building with 3 outside doors. One was a drying room with screen panels for shelves. One was a storage room for components and completed projects. The big one in the middle was the workshop. It had all of the tools and non chemical component parts. Around the roof was hinged panels held closed by springs. Each area had its own air and heat.

I use a dehydrator for drying works great

Just be very careful using one Brandon. Some of them have exposed, hot heating elements. Don't use it in your home because if it does fail, you don't want a house fire.

@@nedgorski i appreciate the warning i actually opened it up and checked its max temp with my thermal camera also added a 320°f thermal fuse in case the fan fails bp's auto ignition temp is just over 400 f but regardless I still wouldn't dry comp in my house my luck is nowhere near good enough for that lol . As I said though I greatly appreciate you taking the time to warn me and im a big fan of your work not only the pyro but the amount of time and effort you put forth to guide folks into this hobby safely . So Thank you!

I'd like to see a low power option for the heater element. To start, a suitably rated and heat-sunk diode for half power.

You can also try PTC heaters with a pid controller but you will have to make the whole heater your self.
