Be prepared to spend some extra time with your roosters as they mature. They will definitely go through a temperament change when they hit breeding age. My "buddy" just this morning decided to stand me down. He's been at breeding age for a few months now. Had to snatch his butt and pin him and he was fine. Don't expect that will be the last of it. Those boys have trust issues and they're very cautious. Just be prepared for it. They aren't hateful birds at all but they have bold personalities. I expect Rootie his bigger dominate brother will want to test me before too long. Done told him I'm ready to fist fight whenever he feels froggy. lol My girls aren't too much the touchy feely type but they're friendly enough. They like to be close and chat you up. :) They sure enough are good hunters and get cranky if not let out at least for a while to go grubbing. They will start grumbling at you. lol
Thank you for the heads up. I have two of my three BCM roosters free ranging right now. They are pretty good at hiding under my barn shed when they see a predator bird. The one that still in the run has been staring me down. I have been staring at him as well just waiting for him to make his move. Lol!!!! 💛💛💛💛
Hello Bird Lady. Great info. I just found your channel and subscribed. I’m getting my first French Black Copper Maran’s the week of April 1st from McMurray Hatchery. Do you have any info on there FBC Moran’s? Any input would be greatly appreciated 😊
I have BCMs from breeders and from Hoover’s Hatchery through TSC. There is a noticeable difference between the quality of the chicken. They are more APA standard of perfection. When it comes to egg color quality, my Hoover’s eggs are pretty dark. Not as dark as the ones from the breeder, but pretty close. French BCMs and BCMs are all the same. Just marketing. You will love them. They are total sweethearts. Including my roosters. No provlen whatsoever. They are my favorite. I just hatched out 8 show line BCMs. 💛💛💛💛
