  • During this exciting hunt for WW2 artifacts, we discover a very special officers pistol. It's a captured weapon from Belgium that was probably taken by a German officer as a souvenir. A remarkable piece of WW2 history!

Handgun is an FN Model 1910. Designed by John Browning. Produced 1910 to 1983. The FN factory in Belgium was captured by the Nazi's and these pistols were produced for the Nazi's in WWII. German produced WWII FN's typically had wooden grips. The pistol you found may have been carried by a German, but likely was produced before the Nazi's occupied Belgium. I have a Nazi FN 1910 in my collection. A nice shooting gun!

My father had an FN pistol with the bakelite grips and all the parts had German stamps....did some of the pistols made for the Germans have bakelite grips? I guess its also possible the soldier swapped out the grips.

I am obsessed with WWII history. I am curious, and perhaps you have discussed it before, but what do you do with all these artefacts that you find? I would love to see your personal collection of WW2 history.
Edit: Also, do you log your locations and your finds and keep photographic evidence? My god that could be the makings of a really awesome picture book. Imagine a map on the left side of the book with symbols showing country of origin of artefacts found at the location and pictures of the artefacts on the right side with a short description underneath each photo. TAKE MY MONEY.

An FN M1910, serial number 19074, chambered in .380 ACP[2] was the handgun used by Gavrilo Princip to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914, the act that precipitated the First World War.[3]

That FN 1910 is just the model number, Not the year it was manufactured, much like the Colt 1911 it’s just a model number

WOW... as always Chris wonderful finds and this location appears to be a Gold Mine for you and the group. Can't wait for the next artifacts hunt. A good friend of mine's father recovered ( took from a German Officer ) and brought home a very similar officers pistol. Alas it was turned over to the authorities when he passed away. It was a beauty and kept in pristine shape with the holster.

10:55 not a nebelwerfer rocket but an exploded 30lb incendiary bomb, they can still be dangerous because of white phosphorus that doesn’t completely burn up in the head of the bomb.

I find your channel very interesting and well done. Also touching, considering today's world and everything that is happening. I am wondering about the men who fought in those places, maybe fell there. About their families and loved ones, waiting for them to return, or waiting for the worst news.
    I am thinking of Ukraine.

One of the only reasons I would want to move to Europe, to do this!! 🤣 Jk!
But seriously, so cool and interesting. I'd love to do this even for a day.
Do you keep these items? Obviously couldn't do that here in the US - well you could..but obviously not for any WWs. Plus in the U.S. most land that would be of importance is privately owned and you would need permission to do this.
Is that how it is there as well? Or is it all/mostly all public land?
