    Fascinating video thanks. Many of the varieties you mention are rare or unknown here in the UK. But, I love purple majesty and the starchy/ floury Shetland black, great for absorbing butter and sauces.

    In my three years of trying I haven't had success with potatoes, either in-ground or in containers. I don't think my soil is right for them, and I probably didn't get the mix right for the containers, either. Do you have any advice about the soil for potatoes?

      Aside from moving to East Idaho, make sure it is sandy, well draining soil. That is the most important thing, but you will still have to water often or you will experience drought stress. Ideally with a pH around 6.0-6.5, though a range of 5.0-6.5 will work.
