- Phastos is the newest card in Marvel Snap but is he good? I had high hopes for Phastos but after playing with him for over an hour I have to admit that he's pretty bad. Even if you play him on turn 3, the optimal turn to play him, he feels pretty weak. And you can get unlucky in terms of energy reduction or power increase too - the energy cheat seems much stronger out of the two. It could be that the deck I played him in wasn't that good or that I was really rubbish at drawing the card in time. But even in a Silver Surfer deck you have to draw him on curve for him to be useful. I'm not a fan of the card at all and don't recommend opening him from Spotlight Caches. I'd really like to try Phastos with Thanos. Cheap cards that draw cards benefit a ton from his buffs. It's also going to be a crazy turn 2 high-roll with Arishem.
i already struggled to draw phastos with a normal deck, it's going to be even harder with thanos!
Can confirm it is an automatic snap on 3 with Phastos in a Thanos deck. However, like Nina said it is so hard to draw him

I tired him both in a living tribunal deck along with a thanos ramp, both worked well if you acually draw him on curve and if he discounts instead of buffs.
Phastos can fit in a lot of decks, like thanos and control deck, unlike mr. negative, he donât have a side effect, which means you can play him on turn 3 without thinking, Iâd say it got potentials
I figured he'd work in high evo, the first place I tried him was Deadpool shuri rod, works pretty well

Nah he is just a bad card. If you don't draw him on or before 3, he is exponentially worse. There are easier ways to discount cards or buff them.

This month overall was pretty disappointing. Sersi might be the best but she can also backfire quite a lot. Arishem is basically Distict X by choice. Might wait until next month.. but part of me wants to roll the Arishem week for the Black Swan and Hercules. They may not be popular but I see some uses for them. Particularly a Black Swan last turn zoo deck and paring Hercules with Prof X and Kingpin. But I really hope future cards add more to the game. Not necessarily OP, but enabling new deck types or making old deck types better.

He's just too unreliable. You can't use him well in a buff deck centered around his buffs or in a value tempo deck centered around his cost reductions.
Its ironic. His ability which allowed him to do both things prevents him from being reasonably useful and reliable in those same exact things.
Yup. You would honestly be better off playing Okoye in a Ravonna deck. Or just play Mr Negative Ravonna.
Use him in zoo. You draw him you are happy. You don't draw him. You are still happy.

This always confuses me. There are zero cards with choices in this game, they don't even have the ui for that. Every card in this situation is random.
I don't understand how players thought this. In Snap, cards never gave you a choice to pick something (as far as I know).

@@cotheajayne neither of those let you choose, use the word choose, or have any kind of mechanic letting you choose between effects. putting cards in your hand is not a choose effect, neither is the effect of a card randomly changing at the start of every turn

I actually donât think heâll be good in a Thanos deck, it makes it even harder to draw him. Thanos decks can afford to have useless cards like him in them because of how much utility stones provide.

You dont have to. The deck was just a baseline deck to see if his effect helped at all. Theoretically you should be able to put him in any deck you want. He'll perform the same rate in anything.
And before anyone says it, Silver Surfer is just a better deck. Any deck better than High Evo is not going to be because of Phastos. It'd be better even without Phastos.
