  • This spectacular cruise from Geiranger village to Ålesund via 3 distinctive Fjords in Norway is of 120 km which offered the spectacular landscapes that slid slowly past us. It is discovering the traditional way to travel along the fjords like the locals used to do when the Fjord was the main highway of transportation.
The Geirangerfjord is one of Norway's most visited tourist sites and has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List along with the Nærøyfjord since 2005. Both highlighted as prime examples of the unique fjord landscape and described by the organization as “EXCEPTIONAL NATURAL BEAUTY." Geirangerfjord is located in the county of Møre og Romsdal having a total length of 15 km and depth of 260 metres and also the MOST FAMOUS FJORD IN THE WORLD.
When we entered the Geirangerfjord roaring waterfalls and mighty mountains revealed themselves in front of us. We could witness the mountain farms clinging to the cliffs and it was hard to believe that people actually lived there not too long ago. Listening to the exciting stories along the route with an informative audio guide including well and lesser known attractions.
The two most notable waterfalls in the Geirangerfjord are ‘De Syv Søstre’ (The Seven Sisters) and ‘Friaren’ (The Suitor also called The Wooer). The two waterfalls face one another across the fjord and according to the folklore 'The Suitor' is said to be trying to woo the sister's opposite.
The other two stunning fjords we crossed were Sunnylvsfjorden and Storfjorden and passed one of the most monitored mountains in the world called 'Åkernes.' Reaching 230-feet deep the Åkernes crack is growing by as much as three and a half inches a year. It is one of the most hazardous rock fractures in the world as nearby cliffs before part of the mountain will eventually slide into one of Norway’s deepest fjords. But this rockslide will be much larger than anything the region has seen, possibly triggering one of the tallest tsunamis in history according to one model. At 338 feet it would swallow schools, hospitals and homes in the lower ports of fjord villages that along with Åkernes’ old farm sit within a UNESCO World Heritage site.
It could be months or decades but the towns at risk are prepared. An early warning system will give them enough advanced warning to safely evacuate, and new drainage technology may potentially stabilize the cliffside.

No problem, dump the writing voice over thus getting rid of the horrible noise.
