I use my iPhone 15 Pro Max or GoPro 12. I also have the Insta 360 flow and enjoy using that with my iPhone.
Pocket 2/3 and Canon EOS RP
Pocket 3 and Action 4...can't go wrong with either.
I have both the iPhone and the Pocket 3. One bit thing is that I would rather use the pocket 3 in public than the iPhone, it is less conspicuous and easier to hold up than filming with phone. I certainly will not be carrying a gimbal about. Also, I frequently get messages and sometimes phone calls which is a difficult to manage while filming.
I do not have or wish to purchase an Apple watch which means I have to film myself with the front facing camera. I’ve tried filming myself with the back camera and I am always out of focus since I cannot see myself while filming.
Yeah, using the rear camera to film yourself without any reference is difficult.

Not all of us own iPhones, or a good phone so for me getting the osmo for my videos was no brainer. I love it. Just need to sort out the focus as it goes a bit weird, pumps, if I'm shooting myself but am behind objects. It doesn't know what to focus on. My zve10 however, I can switch to manual focus. Nice vlog.
The idea of using the apple watch as a guide is really brilliant, I'll try it.

Hi Tamara, thanks for this nice video. You are right, the Pocket 3 is not weather sealed. Nevertheless I saw (don't know who it was- David Manning?) a CZcamsr who ran the whole day through his city and showing beautiful videos. And: It was raining the whole time. He said it was no problem for him and the tiny little camera.
That’s good to know. I’d probably still worry about it over time though long term 🙈 So I’ll keep switching to Action 4 in that situation, it’s a great camera too.

Hello! Have you used any nd-filters with Pocket 3 on the daylight?
Meanwhile people are vlogging with oppo phones, my point is what ever u have is best for u. If u have iPhone 15 pro use it u don’t have to get the pocket 3.
I have a real estate channel where I do property tour videos, and the iPhone 15 pro wide-angle lens is the best thing I've seen in a long time. When I pair the iPhone with the Insta 360 Flow, my tours look exceptional.
I used to use the pocket 2 for my tours last year and was never pleased with the wide-angle lens. Now, my iPhone 15 pro + insta360 flow + rode wireless pro solves all my problems.
if I were to start vlogging, I'd pick up the Pocket 3 Creator combo because I like the small package for on-the-go filming.

Yeah, it's perfect for getting the mic in the best position. I feel like I want to wear a scarf even in summer now because I hate clipping it to my tops 😆

Since I'm a totally beginner at this and your video looks so awesome, I just wanted to ask which are the settings you use to vlog so smoothly while talking to the camera? I tried vlogging while walking around the city and the face tracker while walking and unfortunately my footage is still jumpy (basically the up and down movement of the way I walk is really noticable.) But yours looks really smooth and cool. 😮
Great video! I’m sure a lot of people will find this useful. I have the Pocket 2 and the 15 Pro. I will probably sell my pocket 2 because my iPhone takes much better photos and I like the option of having a camera that does both good photos and videos. However, if I was blogging regularly I would keep my pocket 2.

Hi Tamara- great video thanks! Side note: Have you noticed when taking pictures with the iPhone 15 pro front camera that the picture comes out darker than what it looks like in the view finder? In a good amount of natural light, it looks fine and well lit in the view finder but then when you take the photo it renders really dark and a bit distorted in the camera app. It seems to be an ongoing issue for a number of people as there is a long thread on the apple community page. Was just wondering if you've noticed that too?

I’m so tempted to get the pocket 3 but I’m curious to know if they will make an updated one that’s weather sealed and all, should I wait a while longer or buy when I can
Considering the previous release cycles of the Pocket series, it's not very likely that there will be another one before late 2025 at the earliest, more likely late 2026. And even then, it would still be uncertain if it's going to be IP certified since they have the Action series for all-weather purposes. So if you think you'd enjoy using the Pocket 3 and are not constantly filming in heavy rain or other critical conditions, I can only suggest to just go for it.

You forgot to mention that the Pocket 3 comes with the external mic in the Creator Combo. Big bonus over the Iphones
The biggest problem with the iPhone is its automatic white balance. Unless you use the correct white balance tool and use manual white balance to take photos or videos, you will often take photos or pictures with disappointing color distortion.
Ive been watching all of your videos on the Osmo Pocket 3. I am looking at it for filming fashion/style reels mostly indoors but to be able to track myself qnd also for th3 easy mic functionality for talking videos. I use a sony zv e10 atm but find the whole process bulky and I cant always get my external mic to work without sounding raspy etc. i thought would be easier to jump on and use for creating chatty vertical content and wondered if you thought worth it for indoor shooting ?
Yeah, the Osmo Pocket 3 does really well indoors as well as outdoors. It mainly comes down to lighting though as most cameras will do better when the light levels are good. But I filmed a video indoors at night in my hotel room where I don't really have control of the lights, in terms of brightness and temperature, and the Pocket 3 did an awesome job. I just had a quick look at some of the videos you create and I think the Pocket 3 would serve you well.

I wouldn't have a clue how to use a gimble on my Sony and I think the tracking function will also be good for reels rather than having to try and edit screen movement afterwards. I would also love the confidence to film more outdoors and feel it would be good for walking shots etc Thank you so much for replying! X

Hi Tamara. When you go out filming, do you have a plan that you follow - a shot list? Or do you play it by ear? It would be interesting to know which way you approach it. I'm going on holiday (to the Philippines) soon and I have the pocket 3, a mini 3 drone, an Action 3 and a 360 X3 to choose from and my phone - the S23 ultra. I wonder whether making a shot list is going to over complicate things or make them easier. What's best in your experience?
Yeah, I rarely film a vlog without a plan in place otherwise I'm just walking around aimlessly and waffling, haha!
So, I have a script that I write out word for word, even if I don't read it word for word it helps me formulate what I want to say and then I can glance at paragraphs before I start talking to make sure I don't miss anything, and I can mark stuff off as I go to make sure I've covered everything.
Then I make a shot list for shots I know I need to get based on what I'm talking about, but I also just get general filler b-roll, which isn't on the shot list, as I'm walking around. Also, if I have a more complex scene based on an idea that I have, I use Milanote to lay it out.

I can't thank you enough for this review. I currently use only my iphone for real estate videos and pictures. I am trying to get that floating flow state stabilization. Maybe I can get it on my phone and just do not understand settings. I am currenlty using a HOHEM Gimble with my iphone. Would you say the quality is comparable or is one better than the other? If they are comparable I may splurge for an aerial camera!! Please help. Do you have a tutorial or Point me in the right direction on a tutorial to make flow state videos on my iphone maybe I don't need to buy the osmo?? haha augh
You should be able to achieve the smooth footage with your phone and a gimbal, and if you shoot in 60fps you can slow the footage down for smoother effect.

I'm currently fighting with color space transformations with my iphone and davinci. Is the pocket 3 less fussy in that department when color editing?
I think the Pocket 3’s D-Log M is way easier to grade than Apple Log.
I finally pulled the trigger on the Osmo pocket 3… and I have the iPhone 15 pro max. I plan on using the pocket 3 for vlogging and my iPhone for social media content. 😊

I'd choose the iPhone. I know the pocket 3 destroys it in terms of having a 1 inch sensor and cleaner videos but it only has 2 views. wide and ultra wide (technically 1 if you don't put the magnetic lens on) , which is good for self vlogging and a little bit of scenery capture but what if suddenly you need that zoom? or you need a picture in picture perspective? the iPhone will have the advantage in terms of versatility. plus, the iphone is also a pocket pc which you can edit your videos if you are on vacation and forgot your laptop and you can upload the finished product directly to social media. it's an all in one device. the only time I would invest in an extra camera like the pocket 3 is if I have the extra money, other than that I can work with the iPhone.
are people having any problems with the gimbal or the screen of the Osmo pocket 3?
I have the iPhone 15 pro and I hate filming myself but not being able to see the screen to know how recording looks like.
Another point being that I use my iPhone for everything when running my business out and about, emails, calls, website, etc, etc.
If someone nicks my phone or it falls of a bridge or whatever, it is more than just the price of the phone!! Whereas the camera is just the camera!

iPhone 15 pro max video is way more than enough to do CZcams videos. I don’t have to shoot in ProRes, it’s just CZcams videos so regular 4K is acceptable. It’s telling a good story not so much of video quality.
I used to use my phone on a gimbal but quickly realized that's my phone gone lol. And even now there are no phone cameras that can compete with the Pocket 3 for video quality, especially iPhone. I find them far too digitized. Even if phone cameras caught up with the Pocket 3 I still wouldn't want to tie my phone up when I need it for other stuff as you mentioned.
Yeah exactly, having them both separate is more convenient I find.
imagine getting notifications, messages and a phone call while trying to film A-Roll with your phone.
It’s annoying, to say the least. Could use DND focus mode but it isn’t always ideal if I need to be reachable.
I love my Pocket 3, but the DJI Mic 2 seems to be a little quiet in comparision with built in mic.
Have you tried adjusting the gain on the transmitter?

Yeah the actual mic, should do the trick.
@@TamaraGabrielUK so i made today a video for my channel, set the gain to +8 and still had to increase the gain in post +300% to get around the same loudness as my video with sound from internal mic.
The audio on the iPhone is terrible however the picture quality is amazing
For now the lack of weather proofing and the delicate nature of the gimbal make the Osmo a questionable investment - even though it is a tempting device.

My preference is Osmo Pocket 3 for the reasons I mentioned, but it comes down to your preference.
Is it me or do you notice the DJI mic 2 is ONLY good quality with the Pocket 3? When connected to my laptop, my Samsung, or my iPhone it sounds like trash/rubbish!
With all the improvements Apple made with the 15, it's surprising that the selfie camera is still pretty average in comparison and it seems like they've barely improved it in years. Especially when most iPhone users seem to favour the selfie camera over the back cameras anyway.
That's interesting. To me the rear camera lenses seem superior to the front, but I guess a lot of factors will play a part.

Does anyone do walk n talk vlogging anymore, it seems to me its only review sites, surely most people buy cameras to film or photo away from themselves nowadays. I think this camera should be judged on weather its an alternative to a camera or phone on a gimbal for steady footage. I did watch a video from that perspective and the verdict was generally just use an up to date flagship phone, its a lot more convenient
