The Hollywood drama "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "The Silence Of The Lambs" was a fiction based on the life of killer Ed Gein. whom never lived in Texas.

thank you! wtf. so sick of people hell bent on bringing Texas into it. as you said, his story was real, and about 5 states north of the movie set. I was stationed in Fort Hood(Killeen, TX) back in 02-05' and quite a few Texans were pretty pissed they used their state when in fact it took place nowhere near there. other than that house, the opening scene was shot in one of the rivers commonly used for summer tubing, and I may be wrong but my ex lived in New Braunfels, and the talk of the town said it was being filmed nearby....finally someone with common fucking sense! thanks man!!!

The people who own the house should pay a guy to dress up as Leatherface and run out of the house with a chainsaw everytime a visitor comes. Thats what I would do anyway if I owned the house. It would be part of the tourist attraction, although it would probably scare the shit out of people and some would think its real. I still think it should be done. Id love it. It would add to the experience.

Ed Gein lived in a small Village ,,Plainfield" in Illinois. The only similarity and reason why people say TCM is based on him is becouse of the way he used the corpses from the cementary. He made furniture out of their bone, bowls out of skulls and most important... masks from the faces. He also had a suit made with human leather, and some gloves made with also human leather. Just look up google ,,Ed Gein House Inside" to see why people say its ,,Based" on him.

The best part about the movie “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is that it’s based on a true story about Thomas Hewitt. After Sally Hardesty escaped Thomas Hewitt he changed his name and became a tax preparation specialist.

That property owner is doing it all wrong I would so have a haunted hayride throughout that whole thing. Owners would be printing money if they worked with Hollywood and secured a deal regarding copyrights.

The people are all pissy about tourists. They could make thousands a year from visitors but instead they have cameras and abunch of signs. In all honestly they could have made more money from the tourist than the farm itself.
