I believe that men, born on Earth, traveled to and landed on the Moon in '69. For the technology we had at that time, stop and wonder in awe at just how many things had to go right for them to go there and return safely back to Earth. It was like pitching no hitters every game of the season. Sinking every drive from the tee box as a hole in one every time. Miracle, great designs, dedicated personnel, or all of those things coming together to achieve the unachievable. I remember it all.

    Some education here:
During the beginning of the apollo program, the booster stage was originally going to be fitted with several engines. But during testing and designing engineers were able to increase the thrust output of the booster engine dramatically. They were then able to reduce the number of engines on the booster stage to only five and the Apollo craft itself was then reduced 30 percent in size.
The second stage had the same engines but were smaller in size.

Nice work on the CGI. It's amazing how intricate this how process is ... Blast off, seperate, turn around, connect, pull out, fly to the Moon, seperate, land, seperate, reconnect, seperate, fly home, seperate, splash down ... and the hoaxers think this is fake? If it were fake it would be simple!

    2 more things:
When the CM was under the main chutes, it was not in the flat attitude your film depicts. It was oriented with a 20 degree tilt to enter the water more gently.
Also, Apollo 11 flipped over and entered the "Stable 2" attitude and was apex down in the water for about 4 minutes unitl the lift bags inflated and flipped it back to "Stable 1".

The LEM's used in Apollos 15, 16, and 17 were 'advanced' LEM's with a more powerful descent engine that could carry more weight down to the surface. The Rover was folded up to about the size of a baby playpen and put in a small 'garage' on the side of the LEM descent stage. A rail would also unfold from the garage that the rover would slide down to hit the surface, so the astronauts just had to open the garage, pull the rover out, unfold it, and they were ready to go.

Brilliant! I wept when Neil Armstrong died. A Hero of mine fell. And would you believe I saw a "1960's Johnny Apollo by Marx" on EBay? I didn't think I had a chance to own it, but by some miracle I won. Never owned one. But I wanted something tangible to remember the awe and wonder of the Apollo years. When every boy stopped and watched the T.V. set to see real live Heroes do the impossible. One step into infinity. LOVE the video you made. "Keep Gazing At The Stars"

Very well done, kudos to the poster, I really enjoyed watching this. One small point I did notice and I don't know if this has been commented on prior having not read the comments but in the sequence showing LOI at around 4:55 you depict the CSM firing along the direction of travel, during LOI the CSM would of been firing against the direction of travel to slow down the craft in relation to the moon for orbit insertion. Thanks for posting this.

  • @ApolloWasReal
    @ApolloWasReal Před 12 lety

Very nicely done! Only a few minor nits: the escape tower was jettisoned by firing a rocket, so it should have flown well ahead of the Apollo/Saturn stack, not fallen by its side. And when the LM ascent stage was jettisoned, the docking probe and drogue were both left with the LM; the probe didn't remain with the CSM.

    2 Things:
Your LOI burn at 5:03 shows a posigrade burn. Both the initial and secondary LOI burns were both retrograde (negative delta V's).
Also, the CSM, LM separation was actually performed with the CSM towards the lunar surface, so Collins could inspect the gear without the lunar background.

I believe 16:42 is UTC, not Mission Elapsed Time as you are assuming here. TLI began at about 02:40:16 into the mission and ended at 02:50:03 MET. CSM separation happened at 3:15:23 and docking at 3:24:04, so the times given on the film are about right in UTC.

The world can be one together
    Cosmos without hatred
Stars like diamonds in your eyes
The ground can be space (space, space, space, space)
With feet marching towards a peaceful sky
All the Moonmen want things their way
But we make sure they see the sun
    Goodbye, Moonmen
    We say goodbye, Moonmen
    Goodbye, Moonmen
    Goodbye, Moonmen
    Oh, goodbye
    Cosmos without hatred
    Diamond stars of cosmic light
    Quasars shine through endless nights
And everything is one in the beauty
And now we say goodbye, Moonmen
    We say goodbye, Moonmen
    Goodbye, Moonmen
    Goodbye, Moonmen
    Oh, goodbye
