As someone who has worn these shoes before, I would also add that dirt and rocks repeatedly get stuck in the crevices and holes at the bottom of the shoe. May seem cool but is not as nice as it looks

One thing I love about my clouds is that dirt goes through the open channels(holes), makes getting them muddy even more fun for me 😁

I wouldn’t say that they’re generic looking. In fact it’s probably the least generic looking sneaker out there. Whether you like them or not you have to admit they’re quite unique.
It is a generic design. Even the designer (runner) talked about how the prototype was a Nike shoe with rubber hoses as the sole.
And they do look. The ones in the video like my Nike ah8141-03 Metcon from 08-28-18.

Same ! Not sure if it's the same ones as this video but I got the cloud 5 Waterproof version and wow they are the most comfortable shoes ever. Been wearing them for a year now and would buy again.
You are spot on. I’ve been wearing them for work. After a while they started becoming uncomfortable under my right arch and I have good arches. I went half a size up with an insole then it was perfect. For running and hiking they are great especially on dry non technical terrain.
I absolutely love my cloud 5 waterproof's, they are the comfiest trainers (sneakers) I've ever had the pleasure of putting on my feet, and they're anything but generic looking, one thing I love about On Trainers(sneakers)is how unique and different they look from every other sneaker out there, I love the open channels in the soles too.
The cloud 5 fits true to size, I'm a UK 10 and a UK 10 in the Cloud 5 fits me perfectly, I'd say go up half a size if they're a bit tight on you 👍
Just last month I walked 8-10 miles a day for two weeks in my cloud 5 waterproof and my feet never hurt once.
The Cloudswift 3 runs a little small, so I have to go up half a size with that model.
On trainers (sneakers) are amazing and some of my all time favourites, and that's coming from someone who is a boothead.
How is the quality? I’m looking at On shoes now here in Switzerland, and from the looks they do not feel very sturdy. At least not what I expect from a 230 euro shoe 😅

I've beaten the heck out of my On Cloud 5 Waterproof's since getting them back in March, and they've withstood it incredibly well and they're still going good and strong.
I beat the heck out of my boots and sneakers and never clean them, as I prefer them dirty and well worn/beaten up, and think boots and sneakers look much better that way, and that it also gives them character too 😊.
I do reluctantly protect my boots and sneakers once a year, but don't like doing as it takes away that look and character that I prefer, but I just get them dirty again the same day or the day after to restore that look I prefer.
I'm actually planning on getting a pair of CloudSwift 3's next year I'm that impressed and Love my Cloud 5's that much.
I definitely think On clouds are well worth the money and would highly recommend them, they're also ridiculously comfortable too, plus I love the unique midsoles with the open channels.
My advice is, if you want a pair of On Cloud's, just treat yourself to a pair, you'll not regret it 😉😁
I wear these for the hospital. Definitely not a standing shoe, way better when walking and it feels like it’s meant more for heel toe movements than actually mid foot running

@@Livingportalshonestly this comment here is the first negative one I read from hospital workers and I spent 3 days researching what shoes to buy now that Im starting nursing school. So I went with cloud 5 combo model that has in description that is an all day shoe. Pay attention on ordering go size up. I went only half size up they fit but I will need to either losen the shoe laces they got or change them all together with some other ones because in that are feels to tight. I do have to say as a person that has changed in 10 yrs over 50 pairs of sneakers ( yes Im that complicated and demanding) i haven’t had a pair like this yet and you do have specific feelings when walking there are cushioning bot back and front of the shoe for support
It is not a running shoe. Don’t wear it as one.
So your foot isn’t a good fit… that doesn’t mean it’s a bad shoe!

As someone who has sold a lot of these (and gotten a lot of returns) here are the real cons:
1. This is not a running shoe. It is a walking shoe. As such, it’s relatively stiff underfoot, and lacks the cushion or support of a trainer. If you want something for running, standing, or walking, you are better off in a different model or brand.
2. Price- The cloud 5 is essentially a converse with a fancy upper and some interesting foam tooling. $140 is a lot for a walking shoe compared to the other options on the market, and the Cloud 5 is not notably exceptional in any category.

On has made some terrific shoes recently. The Cloud 5 is not one of them. It’s overly stiff, unresponsive, and expensive. If you want my advice, go to a running store and try on a bunch of shoes, and figure out which you like best.
I am running in this now and when I run through water it will squeak until it’s dry. Won’t be buying any new pairs and I buy a new pair of shoes every month now.
I also bought the Cloud 5 two weeks ago just for work, and would recommend this model for people who are on their feet all day: flight attendants, cashiers and store clerks, waiters, nurses and aides, and package delivery like UPS. I don’t expect to buy another pair of shoes for 5 years minimum 👟👟
What cloud shoe did you buy? I work at a place where i mostly stand for 8 hours so I'm curious. Did you buy the regular "Cloud 5"?, as i have seen there are different types of the cloud 5.
They won’t last that long ! they are comfy but the quality of fabrics especially the interior at the heel is subpar.
First off-
You have had this shoe for two weeks. On shoes are not known for great durability, and if you’re wearing this even only a few days a week, 5 years is a fever dream. Secondly, this shoe is stiff as hell. For people on their feet all day, we usually recommend higher cushioned, softer shoes. The Cloud 5 has all the cushioning of a 2x4. What shoes have you used in the past for you to determine these as the cream of the crop for everyday workers?

What I think probably happened in your process of deciding this was the best shoe for you was that you looked around online for a shoe (or maybe got an On advertisement), ordered the Cloud 5’s, and found that they performed fine for you or didn’t hurt your feet. Did I get any step of that wrong?
This video is great and all but I gotta say those shoes definitely fit you, they look great on you!

I own 2 pairs of these: they are very comfortable for walking. the only con I have with them is that after a short while the sole start to screech.

First of all, I do not consider this a running shoe. I have wide feet too, but this fits me very well. The best thing about the on shoes in general is their upper material and the looks. Whenever I go out for groceries or general chores, I grab this. I am on my second pair now. One of the best lifestyle shoes I have ever had.
Which one you suggest for walking?
I agree and they see so hard with the warranty.
I like these shoes a lot to travel, like they are really good to just walk around a city, they’ll do the job on a trail and you’ll be ready to run if you’re late for your train/bus/plane 😆

Right. I’m choosing new training shoes right now, and these On sneakers look a bit cheap for that price. And I’m in Switzerland where these shoes are just everywhere 😅

I have 2 pairs of these both the on cloud 5 one waterproof & one just like these . Why I am here . I am not a runner ( unless being chased lol) I use these primarily for dog walking and everyday wear ( do yoga no shoe needed ). My first beef is the white pair yellows second is the fabric at the heel will fail which is unusual never had shoes do that. The waterproof on cloud 5 I have are not near as comfortable and therefore I hardly wear them even though same style.
I also, for those wondering about sizing, normally wear 7.5-8 women’s in most shoes and I wear a 8.5 in these, so they run a tad small and my feet are narrow with high arch . Hope that helps. Right now I’m looking for new white sneakers and won’t by on cloud 5 again.
I have the cloud monster sensa and it’s probably the lightest and best running shoe on the planet
Negative I have a wider foot and these feel way better then the Nike 720c witch I think is way to thin in front
So what is a better On shoes for comfort and safety ( from tripping sideways)??
I bought my first pair and used them only for work. After a month I got a hole on the top at the seam of my toes where the fabric starts a week later I got a smaller hole in the same spot on the opposite shoe. Don’t think I’ll buy another pair it was a waste of money.
I have one pair for a couple years the bottom souls are made of crappy material they wore down quick and are very slippery the soles have come apart in 4 spots and I had to glue them this is my third pair and will be the last .
Just an fyi that is probably due to your choice in sizing or just the geometry of your foot. I am not a proponent by any means of the Cloud 5, but you would likely experience the same issue in other athletic shoes. What I sometimes recommend is if you take a shoe like this to a cobbler or shoe tech, they can put a little moleskin under the patch where your toe repeatedly pushes through. Helps the durability.

I have noticed one thing about on cloud. Apart from looks they got nothing over Nike, I tried cloud 5 and cloud monster. I decided to keep cloud monster in full black color coz that in my opinion felt better. I compared it to my Nike invincible 3 which are about 10 months used now yet they feel better while wearing all day compared to cloud monster which are around same price but in looks on cloud does look better so in occasions it’s on cloud 😂😂
Cloud 5 is not running shoes, they are casual shoes. Cloud X are running shoes

I bought a pair of hoka Clifton 8s and they were too narrow at the midfoot ,do you think these will have the same issue?
Is there a ON shoe that is similiar to the cloud 5 but a bit less narrow. Doesnt have to be wide (2e) shoe, just a more normal withd design?
One persons opinion but we’re all individual. I’ve had plenty of uncomfortable Nike, Addidas etc trainers / sneakers over the years including over high foot arches from Nike. The On Cloud 5 I’ve had no issues with.
About this shoe I would say that the material is also not breathable. The waterproof version at least will make your feet sweat like crazy
Well yeah waterproof shoes can’t have holes in them so they can’t really be breathable lol, or at least not as breathable as a non-Gore-Tex version

Bro do you know who's got a really narrow line? The new UA hovr series. I usually wear eu45, with about an inchl room for space, and while i tried the on 5, i still had about half and something of an inch left. But with hovrs, i was like, it was exactly there, like it was touching the front. And with 46 i just had barely room to be comfortable, I'd probably go for a 46.5
I was in my capital city, Dublin for the week, and I was shocked by the amount of On runners I saw. It was about 40% ons, 40% yeezys and 20% timbs (I was at a Wu tang concert)

I love mine and I bought 2 pairs I have wide feet they recommend sizing up. I bought true size and sized up white pair I thought I should of stayed true to size. They are not generic looking at all nor cheap made I’ve washed mine 5 times at least but I definitely don’t recommend white! They look good but get dirty easy
Mine yellowed bought in the winter and put in closet pulled them out in April and they were a pale yellow!

As someone who has these shoes, I love them but I get there not for everyone. If your looking for a comfortable shoe get these but I would not buy if you have a wider foot but they work for me and I love them but that’s my opinion

LOL no. I have multiple running shoes from Nike, and they have grip in the rain, and don't feel uncomfortable when standing.
There’s aren’t for running, they are for hanging out.
Another con: It feels like you are constantly walking on very bumpy terrain. Every step feels like you are walking on pebbles or gravel
I love the On Cloud 5 shoes. For me, they fit and feel the best for daily wear and most types of workouts. As for being "generic" sneaker? You're entitled to your opinion, but seems that most don't agree with you, at all... Very distinctive look.

Totally disagree. Their shoes are awesome, super comfortable and athletically on point.
To each their on, I guess. Just returned from a store where I tried various HOKA, Brooks and On running shoes. For me, On felt the least comfortable of those three. Plus, I’m not convinced by their quality for that price (170-250 here in Swiss)
@@PeterListov I also tried some Hoka's on the other week out of curiosity, and absolutely hated them, they're far too springy underfoot and no energy return when walking like you get in On's either.
The On's Clouds are the perfect balance 👍
Also Peter, one thing I'll say with On Clouds, is that they get even more comfortable the more you wear them and break them in.

Hmm… those shoes look as if they haven’t even been worn outside yet. High quality products will generally feel snug at first because the material is tougher and needs to form to your foot.
Better traction and comfort DEFINITELY comes after 1-2 days of wearing these. I love my Cloud 5s

Thats why its called a 'running shoe'. If you're intention is to wear it and stand stationary for extended periods of time then what are you doing buying a running shoe..?
Historically people have found athletic shoes to be comfortable enough for all day wear. Take Stan Smith or New balance 574. They were both made with athletic intentions in mind. However over the years people have adopted it for casual lounging and everyday wear.

These are the best shoes I’ve ever worn. They are NOT narrow, they’re not wide but not narrow, Nike makes MUCH more narrow shoes; this is wider than any Nike. Totally disagree. I will be buying these for life!

Save your money, these shoes are garbage. Are they comfortable? Yes, for sure. However the quality is subpar at best. These shoes will wear out within six months max and that just using them for running errands. I can’t imagine how long they would last if using them for running or long distance walking.
